Wow, I forgot I posted this and never checked back!
The information is amazing, not my Mundows unfortunately but, I am sure they must have been related.
Thanks so much everyone, I'll start exploring a little more :-)

The Lighter Side / Family tree software
« on: Thursday 15 December 16 00:29 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I'm thinking of hinting about some new Family Tree software as my Christmas pressie but, I have no clue which one to choose. My tree at the moment is mostly stored on-line at Ancestry and I'd like to be a bit more independent.
I've had Family Tree Maker in the past but, found it awkward and tricky to use which concerns me as many of the reviews I have Googled place it as one of the best
I want something where I can see branches of my tree clearly, maybe produce some nice print outs for family, store all the associated records for each individual, just make my life easier! I want to jump between websites and have everything I find in one place, Gedcom is great but it doesn't transfer everything.
Any ideas anyone or should I just write my own and make millions :-) (someone must have got there before me, surely).
Thanks

I kinda get that bit Spike but, and, sorry Annie for hyjacking your post, what I don't get is if I have relatively small overall link with someone on Gedmatch, just 7+ but, a relatively high X match 30+ does the X match mean anything? I also have some fairly high X matches with 0 general matches, is that a match of any sort?

Sorry I am no help but, the whole X thing confuses me too. I've read lots about it but nothing seems to clarify whether X links are worth investigating. I always think scientists are vague and use lots of gobbledegook language when they aren't quite sure themselves :-)

I got my results on Sunday Chapuys  ;D It seemed to take forever but was about a month from them receiving it and posting my results.
Now feeling a bit swamped by all the now information I have. Chatted to a couple of cousins already, one 3rd and one 4th so, good results so far  :D

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Re: Rhesus Negative Factor

I've been Rhesus neg all my life and never knew any of this. I found out when I gave blood as a student, many moons ago, they said my blood was rare and I should give as often as I could. Mum told me she had to have an injection because 'I had funny blood', when I was born but, I had no idea of the implications.

...from ancestry telling me how my Dna is being analysed. Is this sign that it is nearly done or just to keep me going for another couple of weeks?
Can't wait much longer!!!!
