In looking at it from another angle trying to spot Annie marrying, I looked at Hextall marriages for Richard as a parent, no Annie Smeeton but thought the witness at Walter and Annie's marriage Nellie Gohsill (?) would be the Gopshill marriage you mentioned and her sister looking at the census returns. I can't find a marriage for Richard and Martha; don't know if this is anything but just looking at this Annie Smeeton in Lancs 1911

Nellie, father Richard marries Herbert Henry Gopsill 26 October 1912 Earl Shilton

can see a daughter Annie to Richard  till 1901
