Because Mary Jane is so common, that had never occurred to me before. I'll look into it and see if that helps me at all. Thanks for the idea!

Thank you for the response and feedback! Here are the full front and back of the photo. I don't recall what the original size of the photo and mount. I know that is often helpful to determining the date it was created. I scanned a lot of different photos and returned the originals to my father.
The ink on the back appears to be sepia though it could just be that it faded to that from black. It was clearly not a modern pen either.
I have been assuming that one of the subjects (likely the older girl) is Mary Jane but it could be the baby or, possibly, the person to whom the photo was given.
I have a Mary Jane McCleary in my tree that was born in 1863 and died at some point before 1880. It sounds like this photo might not be old enough to have been her...

I've asked for help a few times on here so I thought I'd try to give back a little.
I uploaded it and can now see that I missed some obvious creases in her dress...

The back of the photo says only "Mary Jane." The girl appears to be 5 or 6 maybe? She is wearing a velvet dress. The photograph looks more sepia than gray.
Any help narrowing down the date would be much appreciated.
My family is from western Pennsylvania and it is likely that this photo was taken there. It's possible that it was taken in Scotland or Ireland, too, but I don't think so.
Thank you!

I figured out what the booklet says! "STUDIO LIGHT Incorporating The Aristo Eagle and The Artura Bulletin." I was able to make out the words 'Light,' 'Eagle,' and 'Bulletin.' A google search found a postcard site that showed a similar booklet. It's a photographic magazine so it may be good for dating but not for helping with the jewels. Basically it's a prop but it does put the date of the photo around 1910 as stated by chinakay.
The lapel pin definitely looks like the maltese cross so it does seem like it could possibly be Knights of Malta jewels. I found a similar 8 pointed star with a cross on it being sold on ebay that was identified as "Knights Templar Malta Degree Jewel." I haven't found anything that looks like the bottom item on the ribbon yet.
Thanks to all for your help.

Thanks for the quick responses! I will try to get a better image when I get home this evening.
I should have added more detail regarding the origins of the photo although I don't know too much.
My best guess is that it was from the Pittsburgh area of PA. There is nothing on the back nor is there anything to identify the photographer. I think the photo was taken/printed with a soft focus so I don't know that I can make it much clearer.
The lapel pin looks almost like the number symbol (#) or an iron cross.
The booklet appears to also say "EAGLE" although I can't be sure.
Hopefully the detail attachment helps until I can get a better photo uploaded. The size constraints make it difficult.

I am trying to figure out who the man is in the attached photograph. Determining the date would help as would learning what the ribbon and pins on the ribbon mean. It almost looks like the word "LIGHT" on the booklet he is holding but it could be a longer word.
My first thought was that it was a fraternal org. photo and the second was that it was religious. I am now thinking it could be a graduation photo of some sort.
Any help with a date and symbol identification would be greatly appreciated!
