James and Margaret are probably the parents of Elizabeth born 1803.  Jas would be short for James and the area is right.  Just figuring out if it's my Elizabeth will be the trick!  I wonder if James and Margaret were still alive in the 1841 census.  If they lived at Wolstanton then that would indicate that this more likely the right family.

Many thanks Solidrock.

Hello mrsruz everything is worth investigating ....thankyou.  However I would be a little doubtful given that James was born in 1788 and my Elizabeth in 1804 which would have made him 16 when Elizabeth was born.  Obviously not impossible but more than likely not?

Thanks again..yvonne

Thanks Solidrock, I will have a look at that one.  There weren't too many to choose from and the age could fit. I think one of the others would have been too young.  I wont be sure in any event I don't think.
Do you know what Jas is short for please?

Yvonne

Staffordshire Lookup Requests / Elizabeth FREAKLEY

Hello all.  I am looking for the birth for Elizabeth FREAKLEY.

What I know,
Elizabeth married Luke Thomas Browning Sheppard 21 Aug 1820.  She was a spinster at the time.  No age is shown,  Neither Luke nor Elizabeth's father is recorded at the marriage.  Her residence was Wolstanton.
Elizabeth died in 1835.  Her death is recorded as follows:
Elizabeth Shepherd, Female, age 31
Birth Date   1804
Death Date 1835
Burial Date 31 May 1835
Burial Place Longton, Stafford, England. (I think at St John Church - now demolished)

The birthdate of 1804 would have made her 16 when she married in 1820.

Her first child Charles Smith Sheppard was baptised 29 Oct 1820.

I have spelled the names as shown at each event.

Many many thanks for your help...Yvonne

Hello all I am trying to find my Luke Browning in the 1851 Census.  I am not sure but I think there may be two.
I have a Luke Browning Married to Harriet Proctor (he was already a widower at this marriage in 1835 and I dont know who too nor if there were any children from the marriage. Although Mary's name is shown as Shepherd or Browning so maybe this is a clue)  and so far I have found the following children for Luke and Harriet:
Mary Shepherd or Browning
Harriet Browning Bap 17  Mar 1838
Elizabeth Browning Bap 6 Feb 1840
Charlotte Browning Bap 12 Apr 1844
Francis Browning bap 15 May 1842
Luke Thomas Browning Bap1848
Ann Browning Bap 2 Mar 1851

I have not found the family in 1851.  Any help would be appreciated.
It wold seem that my family are in Longton.
Many thanks Bonnie

Hello here, I know it is a long time since your post but I only came across it today.  I am a descendant of Thomas and Agnes.  I have the 1841 census for them and a birth record for both  Thomas and Agnes.  I have not found the 1851 census for them either.  They moved from Scotland to England shortly after the birth of their first child in 1836.  Their second child was born in England in 1838.
I wont provide much more info here today in case you no longer are contactable through Rootschat.  Regards Bonnie
