Limerick / Re: McMAHON

Hi There. My name is Marie Greig nee McMahon. My father was Brian McMahon 1929. Son of Gerard McMahon 1901 and Ita Bryan. Son of Timothy McMahon 1870 and Belinda Kelley.  Son of Timothy McMahon 1834 and Catherine Hurley. Thats as far back as I have gotten at the moment.
My Grandfather Gerard McMahon married Ita Bryan from Limerick. They lived and worked in Dublin all their lives. They had 6 children. Gerard. Brian. Eddie (Teddy) . Ita . Eithna and another child Marie that died but not sure when.
My Dad Brian married  Sarah County and had 7 children  before Sarah died in 1964. He remarried to Julia Comiskey who was a sister to Gerards wife Harriet Comiskey. Julia was 13 years his junior so they went on to have 11 children. Big family.
Gerard had 3 children  with Harriet Comiskey in Cabra Dublin.
Eddie (Teddy) had 5 ? Children with Betty ? in Cabra Dublin.
Ita had 3 children with Thomas Nevin. They emigrated to America.
Eithna had 4 children with ? Daly and they emigrated to Australia around 1968.
If anyone has any information going back to Timothy 1834 and his father I would be very interested.
Thanks, Marie

Thanks Sio,
Did you have this?
Limerick Chronicle 29/10/1914 death notice for Timothy McMahon aged 73yrs, 1 Edward Street.
http://www.limerickcity.ie/media/10%2029%20corneille%20cond,%20mcmahon.pdf

There is a huge discrepancy in his age which is in the 1911 census as 77yrs. Unless there was a cousin/brother at another Edward St house or someone else in the same house?

Have not had much more on our McMahons... I hope to find the little I have and post it.

A Munster Newcastle directory I found (lost its link) has a Timothy McMahon as Comercial: grocer & spirit dealer, North Quay.
Coincidentally there is a Thomas Hurley also grocer & spirit dealer, in Church St.
Regards,
Chris

Hello Sio,
I have my g/parents 1893 marriage cert. I had mentioned and Timothy McMahon's occupation is listed as Steward and Mother is definitely Kate Hurley and not Catherine (although it was).
Regards,
Chris

...I thought it strange Patrick McMahon listed Kate Hurley not Catherine as his mother on the marriage Certificate.

Hello Sio59,

You were quick to find my post!

I am pretty sure Patrick McMahon emigrated to Townsville, Queensland 1888 aged 24yrs, then moved to Rockhampton/Barcaldine/Blackall area where he married Elizabeth Charlotte Love. He worked as a drover so travelled a lot.

Hello eveyone...

I am from Australia and have a copy of my GGfather Patrick John McMahon's 1893 Marriage Cert. stating he was 29yr old and his parents as Timothy McMahon (steward) and Kate Hurley.

He married my GGmother Elizabeth Charlotte Love in Rockhampton, Queensland, Aust. He was b.1864, originally from Limerick,

After a lot of thinking I wondered if he might be Patrick Sweeney?
Any thoughts?

Cheers
Chris
