Once again, Victor, I have to thank you most profusely, for finding yet more information for me on the marriages of Samuel Boulton.  The facts you have provided have helped no end and I now have a complete picture of the family during the early 1800's.  I can't thank you enough - much obliged.

Ann :)

Hello Victor,

I'm so sorry for the delay in replying. It's been 7 years since I put up my first post and I've just checked back again with Rootschat in the hope that there had been a reply and I have just seen yours.  Thank you so much for taking the time to find this information for me.  I had an idea that Samuel had been married more than once, and this confirms it, and you have provided baptism dates for his children too - wonderful.  It was worth the wait.  Thank you so much.

Best wishes,
Ann

I've just been looking through the threads and I see you mention the witnesses as Matilda Rogers and William something.  Could they be Matilda and William Redgers?  If so, they would be Mary Ann Chlew's mother and step-father. Just a thought.

I, too, am looking for a Watkins connection, but it's the Bush side of the family I am contacting you about.  My great aunt was Mary Ann Chlew of Mountain Ash. Wales (her sister, Harriet, was my grandmother).  Mary Ann married William Henry Bush in 1898.  Do any of these names mean anything to you?

I look forward to your reply.

Gloucestershire / Parish records look up please - Snowshill

Hi,

If anyone is going to Gloucester R. O. at any time, I would really appreciate a look up, please.

I'm trying to trace the BOULTON family in Snowhill. On the 1841 Census, thanks to RootsChat, I have discovered that Samuel Boulton was living with wife, Sarah, and son William.   I believe there was a daughter called Hannah born about 1819/20 and wondered if there were any other siblings?  Samuel and Sarah (although I have Ann as a wife's name too) were married about 1815/16.  William was born about 1816 and I am hoping there was a Thomas as well, born about 1824.#

Your help would be so much appreciated.

Thank you.

Shropshire Lookup Requests / Re: Shrewsbury 1871 look up. please?

Well!  I didn't think of that - well done.  However, I don't know if it will be of any help.  The witnesses were William Bowen and Margaret Ann Bowen.  My grandmother was Gwen Bowen and she had a sister called Margaret Ann, so I take it one witness was her.  I don't know who William Bowen was though.

I thought, perhaps, that Charles may have been an orphan and that's why we can't find his parents?

Regards,
Ann

Hello Jan,

Thank you for all your efforts on my behalf.

Grandfather Charles was living in Ferndale, Glamorgan at the time of his marriage in 1894, and on the 1901 census.

It was the 1901 census which said he was from Shrewsbury, Shropshire, although it was generally known within the family and has been mentioned several times.  There has been no mentioned of Charles' parents though - so maybe his parentage was a bit iffy!

Thanks again.

Ann

Thank you for that lovely welcome.

I have a copy of my grandparents marriage certificate which says that Charles Hughes was 23 years old and that his father was Charles Hughes (deceased).  That was in 1894.  It also said my grandmother, Gwen Bowen, was 20 years old at time of marriage which was wrong - she was 18, so his age could be wrong too.

Someone in the family mentioned that, although Charles was born in Shrewsbury, they thought he came from the Montgomeryshire area, so maybe he was there as a child.

Yours hopefully.

Could someone help me find my grandfather, Charles Hughes, on the 1871 census for Shrewsbury, please?  He was born in Shrewsbury in 1868/9, I think.  I'm trying to find his parents names.

Many thanks.
