Hi Roz,

I had the chance to visit Hampreston churchyard today. I'm really sorry but unfortunately, I couldn't find any Bryon graves for you. Some of the old graves are very difficult to read and since I was there at Easter, it has become quite overgrown with stinging nettles and weeds (probably due to all the rain we've had recently!).

Hopefully they'll tidy the churchyard up when the weather gets better, and if so I'll go back and have a look at the parts I couldn't get to.

I do have a photo of the church, if you would like me to send you a copy please PM me with your e-mail address.

Kind regards,

Rebecca

Hi,

I presume this message is for me!

I may get the chance this weekend to go to the churchyard (weather permitting!), so I'll have a look for any Byrons for you.

I went to the graveyard at Easter to do a search for someone on here and found one for her dating back to the 1880s. I believe there were older graves there  - so fingers crossed! ;)

Will let you know what I find :)

Migky,

I'm so pleased that you've found him at last ..... all the hard work paid off in the end. ;D

Would love to see a photo of the grave when you get the chance!

Congratulations on the lovely photo too ..... it must be your lucky day!

Apparantly Parish Registers are next on their list, - although the indexing of the early registers should make for interesting reading, as the majority of their transcribers are Chinese:-)

I was wondering what they would do next!

Will probably have to wait ages for the ones I'm interested in to appear ::)

Once they arrive, there'll be no getting me off my computer ;D

Brilliant idea though!

Hi Mike,

I have just had a look through the information given to me by thomasg and our ancestors had a sister called Sarah baptised 14/07/1791, unfortunately I have not had time to look into the Bullocks as yet, and thomasg does not have a marriage for her.

Do you know the names of your Sarah Bullocks siblings or parents?

I would keep it, even if it wasn't my family.  Or at least try and reunite it with its owners. The worst way, I think I'd donate it to a local museum or something.

Kim

Or even give it to the local record office for safe keeping.

Glad to see so many are having success

Mine is a load of pants up to yet >:( >:( >:(

Me too!

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Was hoping to find a few children untraceable on other censuses, but no luck so far :(

It doesn't help that they didn't say what county they were born in >:( nevermind, I'll keep searching for them.

The little girl in the photo became a cosmetics model pre-war, then a Canadian war-bride, wrote and produced a children's TV series, divorced and became an antique dealer, divorced again and devoted her life to charities, dying of cancer in Spain in about 1975.  She fitted all of that into a life span of 55 years.  :)

What a varied life!
