Family History Beginners Board / Re: Christmas Gift for dad

My dad only moved to Sweden, because my mom is Swedish.
My dads origins are from Wales, on his fathers side. Lewis/Mullens
And his moms side are from London. Jones/Payne
But because of the war both my grandparents relocated to Somerset.

He loves anything he can find! There are little news clippings on ancestry, more birth records and that kind of thing. So he can easily build up a tree on ancestry, but there is not much information behind everyone that he has found!

Family History Beginners Board / Christmas Gift for dad
« on: Saturday 02 December 17 17:11 GMT (UK)  »
So christmas is coming up, and my dad looooves researching his roots in the UK.
He lives in Sweden, so he can't really make use of going to local librarys in England to find out more.

So he uses ancestry to help him out!
But here's my question! Is ancestry the best way? I looked at findmypast.com
It claims to have more, but does it?

Any other suggestions to a great gift for him? He's done a lot on his ancestry tree, though I'm not 100% sure it's the right people he's found. Haha.

What does everyone here use?

Do you have the name of the tree owner and I will look him up?

Oh do you have the copy of the marriage certificate? Yes, Lillian Payne was my great grandmother! She raised my grandmother by herself because Leslie was always out at sea!

I got the birthcertificate today! And he was illegitimate..  :-[
His mother calls herself 'Lizzie Jones' but from the cencus I found, I gather her name was Elizabeth Ann Jones.

What is the best way to gather more information on this Lizzie and more information on Leslies upbringing? I found this document through Ancestry from Southwark Union which also could be him.
