hi iv never heard of an orphange in alloa . the poorhouse opened in kirkgate 1864 so wouldnt have been that if it was 61 census sorry i cant help you

i think back then they just made do ,iv found some families of 10 and then maybe 3 lodgers all in a 2 roomed house going back to the 60,s the only big building i seen in the candleriggs which was still standing at the time would have been the bookies no idea if that is what it always was or maybe rooms

hi theres only one alexander paterson in greenside cemetery thats the one next to kirkgate date is given as 1895 ,it doesnt state pauper on it
