Australia Lookups completed / Re: John Edward Major (1848-1913) Newspaper Lookup

Not sure if there is any Australia connection. John Edward Major's Father (William W Major) co-owned the Lexington Hotel in Virginia, and some members of the Family were friends to Robert E Lee, so maybe they were an ex-Confederate Family looking for friendlier confines, who knows?

Perhaps it is a slight death notice or story unrelated to his death. I have the Sept 6, 1913 newspaper date from My Heritage- I just don't have the page number for the Herald that day.

Yes, she was Mrs. Greenwood when she died because her 2nd husband was a Greenwood. Her 1st husband David Bennett Dawson, died in 1902, leaving her a Widow for a few years. There seems to have been family relations in Iowa as well, so I could use the Iowa clippings just to examine.

Hello,
Looking for a newspaper story (likely obit or death notice) for Yank John Edward Major (1848-1913) in the The Sydney Morning Herald - Sep 6, 1913. He died Aug 24, 1913. I could really use an image of this.
   Thanks in advance,

I contacted the Anglican Diocese of Toronto Archives in Decemeber 2023 and they were not able to locate a church record. For a fee they can do a more exhaustive search. See sources at profile of Norman Allan Langley at Familysearch. They were able to confirm him on 1911 Canada Census.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Talmage Edward Dawson Photo
« on: Tuesday 06 February 24 15:41 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,
Below is an Enhanced Photo of my Maternal Grandfather Talmage Edward Dawson (1894-1974), native of Kansas. This photo was taken circa 1942 when he was working for the U.S. Govt. Printing Office (GPO). It comes from his Official Personnel File (OPF) that has been recently retrieved from NARA St. Louis. I am just looking for a crop and a little bit of color.
   Thanks in advance,
             Brian

There are at least two images of Talmage Edward Dawson (1894-1974) that were found in his Official Personnel File (OPF) when he worked for the U.S. Govt. Printing Office (GPO) as a Linotype Operator from circa 1939 to 1945. These were found in a roughly 106 page OPF at NARA St. Louis, courtesy of George Fuller.
