World War One / Colonel George Muir Oldham DSO
« on: Thursday 04 January 24 22:14 GMT (UK)  »
Good evening, I am hoping someone can help. I am looking for the mother's name and cause of death of Colonel George Muid Oldham DSO Royal Engineers, he was born in Largs Ayreshire, Scotland in 1876 and died in Calcutta in India 1955. I have already found his military history and am only really interested in his mother's name, any sibblings apart from his brother  Dr. J. H. Oldham, C.B.E., and as I say the cause of his death.

Thanks in advance.

Arthur and Emily were my wife's great grandparents.

Hi,
There is a Gladys Littlejohn on the midlands electoral roll living at 31 Porchester Street, Lozells Ward (includes Handsworth I think)in 1930.
Others at that address are Emily, Arthur and William Richard Littlejohn.
In 1925 it was just Arthur and Emily Littlejohn but Gladys may not have been old enouh to vote.
Do those names ring a bell.
Of course if it is her then the address may not have been where Joan was born, could have been in hospital, probably only a birth certificate would tell you..

Can I just ask what 6D 196 means? It sounds like it could possibly be her.

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could help. I am trying to find out the exact birth place of my mother inlaw Mrs Joan Johnson. She was born Littlejohn on April 27th 1925 but at the age of 15 (1940) she was adopted by her mother Gladys Sumners in 1940. Apparently she was born in the Hansworth (or Hansworth wood) area but don't know exactly where. Is anybody able to help?

Olek.

Sorry, I found info about convoy 49, very sad that 1000 wre on board, of those 881 were executed on arrival.

Is there anyway that we could find out if he was detailed to work or executed?

Any other info on his family would be great.

When it mentions convoy 49 does that mean the train that was used?

Tony, this is fantastic. Is there any way we can find out his last known address in Lyons-La-Forêt?

Can anyone shed any history on Lewek Guttman? I want to know when he was arrested and about his background. As I am of Polish descent and I will be laying flowers during a ceremony of remembrance in September for this gentleman in the forest surrounding Lyon-La-Foret.

Thank you.
