Fife / Re: William Warrender - Wemyss birth late 1600's

Not located Jonet Christy (christie) yet in terms of finding her parents ....

thanks for that link - I have been trying to find a death record as well as just wondering if this is the right William then why would they suddenly stop having children if they were so young other than one of them passing away.

Fife / William Warrender - Wemyss birth late 1600's
« on: Friday 03 August 18 06:56 BST (UK)  »
William Warrender married Jonet Christy in Wemyss on 29 Apr 1692.   But the only birth of a William Warrender that I can locate would make him 14 at his marriage - and 4 children born to him and Jonet up to 1699.      I know that it was legal for a boy to marry at 14 in Scotland at that time but just wondering if others feel that this is the right birth.?  If this is the correct birth then he would be from Anstruther which is geographically possible.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / 1810 marriage - what is the brides surname
« on: Saturday 09 December 17 03:18 GMT (UK)  »
can anyone help me to work out what the potential spellings would be for the surname of the bride - looks like Chifsell or is it Chissell or ..... I havent hand any luck searching on the various ideas I have come up with.  She was born mid 1780s in Essex but I dont have a town as she only appears on the 1841 census.

Essex / Re: Joseph Lindsell born 1783 - Braintree/Bocking
« on: Saturday 11 November 17 00:36 GMT (UK)  »
I too have been trying to figure out these Lindsells ... I think that the Joseph Lindsell born Bocking 1783 is not the one born to Daniel and Sarah in 1788.

Joseph who married Hannah Chissell or Chippell in 1810 went on to have Maria in 1815, Caroline in 1817, William in 1821 and James in 1827.  We can locate that family in the 1841, 1851, 1861 and it is consistent with the age and data of birth and location being Braintree ..

If you manage to find any leads I would love to figure out who Joseph 1783 - 1864 was the child of.

Hi Norrie  do you by any chance have a John Martin died Mar 1857 buried East Wemyss.  Hi wife was Marion Whyte who predeceased him but I dont have her date of death yet - I think it was between 1851 and 1857.

thanks

Inverness / Re: Sleat or Strath - any info before 1800

mmkiwi,
Here are some births you may be interested in....

Peter Kelly, parents Angus Kelly & Effy McLeod.    Born 14 Nov 1825 at Strath
Catherine Kelly -- same parents -- Born 29 Nov 1828 at Strath
John Kelly -- same parents -- Born 6 Mar 1839 at Strath
Janet Kelly -- same parents -- Born 29 Apr 1840 at Strath

     ---------

Mary McKinnon, parents John McKinnon & Mary Robertson.   Born 7 Mar 1813 at Sleat.

---I only saw this single McKinnon born to Mary Robertson.      Ever heard of a Lachlan McKinnon of Sleat?     I think he also married a Robertson and had children at Sleat around that time.

                                                                            Brian

thanks Brian - I have much of this info, but appreciate you forwarding to me as well.  The only area of difference is is to John Mackinnon and Mary Robertson I have Mary Mackinnon and Roderick Mackinnon born in 1815.

The Lachlan Mackinnon you mention who married a Robertson - what year was he born?

The Lachlan Mackinnon I have was born to Roderick Mackinnon (1815-1905) son of John Mackinnon and Mary Robertson as mentioned above, who married Marion Grant in 1844.   Lachlan was one of 5 boys born to this couple and Lachlan was a twin.   The family all emigrated to NZ in 1873.
