Thank you Matthew.  I never thought of that and also thank you for the link to the book.  I will look at it.

World War Two / can anyone identify this airplane
« on: Sunday 11 September 16 03:49 BST (UK)  »
This picture is of a Canadian in WWII so the plane is likely a RCAF or RAF plane.  Identifying the plane hopefully will help me to identify the man.  I know that he is my mother's cousin but he could be one of two people.

Caithness / Re: Cameron John Campbell born about April 1826

Yes this is significant in that both JC and CJ are Cameron.  Unfortunately his son was named John Cameron (see John C) on 1881 census.  I have to read between the lines and look at the other people in the document to be sure which person it refers to.

Caithness / KIA left from Wick, Caithness WWII

I don't have a question but I wanted to share something that has really touched my heart.  A couple of weeks ago Ancestry.ca gave free access to WWII casualty records for Canadian servicemen.  I was able to find the complete service record for my mother's 2nd cousin, but because they grew up together they were closer than that.  He was stationed at Wick, Caithness and was lost in a bombing run on May 17. 1942.  It is kind of bittersweet because my father's great grandfather came from the same general area in Caithness and immigrated to Canada in the early to mid 1800s.

Caithness / Cameron John Campbell born about April 1826
« on: Monday 05 September 16 22:05 BST (UK)  »
My 2nd great grandfather Cameron John Campbell was born about 24 April 1826 according to his tombstone.  He immigrated to Mosa Township, Middlesex, Ontario.  He died 24 Dec 1904 in Ekfrid, Middlesex.  He was married to Elizabeth McLauchlan in Ekfrid before 1859.  Their daughter was my great grandmother Jessie M. Campbell married to Malcolm Fletcher of Lobo Township, Middlesex.

I found a baptism of John C Campbell, son of William Campbell and Cath. Cameron 19 Aug 1826 in Reay parish, Caithness.  I cannot prove that this is Cameron although all the facts point to it.  Does anyone know?

Will someone please tell me how I can send a private email to some of you, since I think that we are related and can possibly share information.

I think that a lot of us are related.  If you are interested in sharing more information please contact me. I haven't seen a way to receive email notification of postings, which is why I haven't been on this chat group for a long time.  Thanks for all the information.

I obtained the information from the article that you quoted.  I think that we are related.  My Crawford/Fletcher relatives lived near Poplar Hill.  Archibald Fletcher and Margaret Crawford were my great-great grandparents but they lived in Lobo and Caradoc townships.  Their son Malcolm lived near Poplar Hill, as did I.
