Thank for this, I have emailed John and will await his reply!!  I have tried to make contact with the American Walcot's but they are ignoring my emails.  Oh well the joy's of technology.

Dear All
Thank you for your fascinating comments.  If anyone can suggest a means of tracing current living relatives that would be helpful.  The church is currently looking to appoint a new Vicar to the parish and the Walcott family do have an input into this.
Thank you
Anita

We are looking to trace Walcot family members formally of Bitterley Court, Bitterley, Ludlow, Shropshire.
The Walcot family lived at Bitterley Court for 300 years or so.
They owned the right to appoint the rector (they have the "patronage" or the "advowson") of St Mary's Church, Bitterley.
Bitterley Court was sold to the Wheelers in 1898, however the Walcot family retained the right to appoint the rector.
The Diocese of Hereford only has the following information about the owners of the advowson: Walcot Family Trust c/o Morgans Solicitors, Mill Street.  Unfortunately Morgans has closed down and the business was bought by Lanyon Bowdler.  My employer has contacted them, but they have no records about the Walcot Family Trust.
Any information would be fantastic.

With your help we believe the following:
The coat of arms commemorates a marriage between Mr Brooke and Miss Heron, or a Mr Heron and Miss Brooke. Felicia Brooke (1723 - 1805) of Mere Hall, Cheshire married George Heron (? - 1780) of Daresbury Hall, also Cheshire, which appears to be a good fit.

The Brooke arms are "Or, a cross engrailed party per pale gules and sable". Heron arms "Gules, a chevron ermine between three herons argent."

At Christie's in 2010 there was a sale of the contents of Newton Hall in Northumberland in which the following was auctioned:
A GEORGE III BALUSTER SILVER COFFEE POT
MARK OF JOHN SWIFT, LONDON, 1766
With gadroon borders, the fluted spout issuing from an acanthus leaf, one side engraved with coat-of-arms within rococo cartouche
10¼ in. (26 cm.) high
20 oz. (620 gr.)
The arms are those of Heron impaling Brooke for the marriage of George Heron and Felicia Brooke of Mare, Cheshire, circa 1765.

Thank you to everyone think we have it  ;D

We are trying to identify the attached coat of arms and wondered if anyone could help please. It is taken from a salver dating from the 1770s.   We have looked through all the coats of arms in a copy of Burke's but could not find any to match either.

Additional information:  Salver made by Ebenezer Coker, London 1766/7
