Hi Walter, great to see you are on roots chat, unfortunately I don't seem to be able to find your comments on this post?
Look forward to hearing about your family tree and hopefully help fill in the blanks on the tree!

Best wishes

The Common Room / New Zealand - looking to find someone
« on: Friday 25 August 17 11:36 BST (UK)  »
Hello, I've used Roots Chat very successfully for family history and I wondered if we are able to try to find out about someone that will probably still be alive?
My dad used to be in the Merchant Navy and he used to stay with a family in Timaru (New Zealand) in the 1960's and he lost contact with them and would be interested to know if they are still in the area and send his best wishes. The family was Mr Cyril Thomas (assume deceased) and he had two sons and one daughter,  He is interested to discover if the daughter is still based in the area. We don't know if she married so guess she would no longer have the surname Thomas.

Many thanks- but fully understand if this site is only for family history.

Hi,
My Great grandfathers brother, Herbert John married Mary Selina and they settled in Australia. I am aware they had five children including Leonard, Walter, William and Stanley Knight. I am looking to find out where in Australia they settled and if they had any descendants that maybe trying to complete their family tree with the family that they left in Bristol.
Thanks

Australia / Knights of Australia

Hi, I am new to this board and wanted to know if anyone knows or has contact with a Max Knight in Australia. He has posted in Mitchell Family online about the Knights of Bristol and Australia. I have tried to contact him through this but have had no response.
Some of my family went to Australia and I would believe he is a relation of these people and I could finish some of his family tree.
Sorry I have no further information on Max but just hoped someone may have had contact with some of his work.
Thanks

Hi, (First time asking a question so hope this is all ok) I am aware that relatives of mine who's father was in the British Military in India were living at this Asylum. I am trying to discover if there are any lists of pupils for around 1871-1884 for the asylum and if there is any background to why children went here and what life was like there. I am also told their mother died whilst they were India and probably the reason why they were sent to the Asylum but I cannot find any death records and would love to link it all up to finally discover the history of their time in India. Thanks
