Australia / Are these persons one in the same?
« on: Wednesday 10 January 24 12:55 GMT (UK)  »
I require confirmation if possible that ELLEN LAURA BALLANTYNE /ST CLAIR/PUGH ends up being EMMA CROFT died 1899 buried Waverley NSW .Married Dr HENRY MARSHALL CROFT in NZ .I require assistance as the person in question  was on the stage had many aliases and one could say gilded the lily regarding her father place of birth etc .Traces of her husband also peters out and seems to end in NZ in the 1870s seems strange for a distinguished Surgeon ...

Thanks in advance for your interest in this matter DirtyPaw

At a glance it appears bangles of the era were attribute and endorsed by actresses and singers of the era  i believe MELBA bracelet  and stewart to be two different bracelets endorsed to be reproduced through a jewellers as per TROVE advertisind hope this helps it appears that the original bracelet was
to be cremated with her but was not and  but ended up being destroyed many years later in a fire.

Sue is correct have been searching for parents or siblings of my ELIZABETH ANN PATTERSON for a while and hoped revisiting might set a new light on her .The indirect approach through BRIDGET PULLEN came about through association of COTTER and PATTERSON and persons family first name AUGUSTA .
I hope i can find a link by association but think the use of aliases or coincidence of same family names
may sink my plans. I would like to thank everyone for the input and tolerating my logic or lack thereof.
Thanks Craig ???

Thanks Sparret for your inquiry some of this info is old ground redone from a different angle.
Reported birth name per death cert 1914 bdm vic ELIZABETH ANN BLYTH father ANDREW BLYTH civil engineer mother unknown. On her daughters AUGUSTA SUSANS WALSH birth cert 1853 fathers name CHARLES EDWARD PUGH/WALSH (walsh being acting name) on cert says her name formerly DINIGHAN. On her marriage cert 1883 she was named as WALSH her husband as WILLIAM STORIER PATTERSON her father as EDWARD BLYTH not ANDREW as previously reported and mother as MARGARET COTTER.
I could not find the cert for marriage to CHARLES EDWARD PUGH 1849 collingwood is stated on 1853 daughters birth cert

Thanks again Craig

NEALE1961 thanks for your reply .The association to COTTER may be that  Bridgets actual name was COTTER and arrived on the ELGIN 1849 to SA and got up to mischief with other irish orphans my ancestor is ELIZABETH ANN BLYTH COTTER WALSH/PUGH PATTERSON . Most of ELIZABETHS  history has been reported on bdm docs but accuracy is debatable

Australia / Bridget PULLEN birth of Elizabeth PATTERSON 1863

Hi everyone
In my endeavours to find a link to my Irish COTTER ancestors i started to look for common names both first and second names. Finding more dead ends and unanswered questions. I particularly need confirming of birth death and marriage of Bridget PULLEN shown only in BDM VIC as mother of ELIZABETH AUGUSTA PATTERSON (lil) born 1863 YANKEE CREEK HUNTLY VIC

Thanks Craig

Ireland / Re: Cotter / Blyth Family
« on: Wednesday 24 March 21 04:04 GMT (UK)  »
Sorry for being disjointed in my post . My 3 x Great Grandmother ELIZABETH ANN PATTERSON was born to EDWARD or ANDREW BLYTH and MARGARET COTTER (per Victorian death cert) in BANTRY IRELAND circa 1836 . THOMAS YOUNG COTTER was also born BANTRY IRELAND and could be related .As THOMAS AND ELIZABETH were from the same birthplace and were both in South Australia at the same time i was trying to make a connection to ELIZABETHS Irish or possibly Scottish  roots  .Hope this clarifies things .

Thanks Craig
