Hi Wendy! Yeah John Renshaw is my grandad and my great grandad! So are you joe Harrison’s sister? Have you got any pictures of susanna or any of that side of the family? I’m hugely interested in the Gypsy history and would love to put a face to the name.

Xx

I'll have to check with my grandad when Susanna moved to Sheffield. Maybe that's why I'm not finding anything for Joe; as I've been looking in Stockport.

Thankyou! That gives me another angle to go at!

Me neither! It's been really hard to find out things about her. There's got to be something that they didn't want to be known.

My grandparents say that she didn't marry Henry Harrison and thier son was called Joe. The bit I'm confused about with her is that she was married for a good few years before leaving my g.grandad. She was still in Stockport with Henry. My grandparent say that she went by Renshaw until she married the polish guy in Sheffield.

She left Thomas - unsure of wether they divorced before he passed. She left her son John on the steps of a chuch when he was a baby (John s Boswell cared for him) she then had another son Joe Harrison to Henry Harrison - I'm unsure of dates for Joe. But she actually remarried just before she died in 1994 to a Polish Man so she died Susanna Prystaz in Sheffield - I've been to her grave recently to check dates and her name, I have also found her death certificate on ancestry.

Hi! Thankyou all!

Yes my John Renshaw (1931 aka sonny Boswell) is the son of Susanna & Thomas.

There are two records mixed up for John S Boswell's marriage as When I search on ancestry I am finding the two John Boswell's as mentioned. What I'm struggling to find are susannas siblings/ John S Boswell's other children. My grandad can't recall any of their names apart from being introduced to an 'uncle daffodil' wether this was a nickname or not I do not know.

Again I really appreciate the help. And i didn't know that I could try the surname interest thing so I will give that a go! Thankyou again!

Hi, I'm new to this so forgive me if I'm asking silly questions.

My great great grandmother was Susanna Boswell, daughter of John S Boswell.

I am wondering if anyone has any pictures/ names of the Boswell's that travelled around Staffordshire & Cheshire in the 1800's and settled in Stockport in the late 1800's/Early 1900's.

My grandad mentioned a yard that his father told him about from when he was a boy. My great grandad was John Renshaw but the story is that his grandad (John S Boswell) took him on and he was known as Sonny Boswell.

Also I can't find any brothers and sisters for Susanna (Suzie) or a wife for John on ancestry. One woman does come up but when I visited Suzies grave it couldn't be the mother that I had on my tree. Has anyone else got John or Suzie on their trees?

Thanks!
