Thank you for the interest. I am talking about the 1630's and the height of the Puritan migration specifically to Massachusetts.

I forgot to mention that the ships on board of which the individuals I am interested in were passengers are recorded as having sailed from London. That is what gave rise to my question of the Stepney Parish connection, and also that Stepney was I have read an important dock area.

Thank you for your input. The number of immigrants who appear to be from London surprises me, but probably from ignorance. Since most who came to Massachusetts were "non-conformers," I am ignorant of what was happening in the London area with respect to non-conformity. The other suggestion that, of course, many in London came from other areas of England is obviously true. The fact that Stepney had many docks in the area, gave rise to my thought that they may have embarked from there and then gone to Liverpool or elsewhere for the final phase of their voyage.

I have noticed many times that Stepney Parish, London is connected with a great number of early immigrants to America. This is then cited as a birthplace by those doing family genealogy. I wonder if Stepney Parish is from where they embarked for America or registered to do so, and may not be where they were born or from. Does anyone have any incite?
