Hi All
I am hoping that someone who knows Devon better than me can help.
I have just recived the service record for a relative of my wifes who was in the R.N. from 1864 to 1874 every thing seem to be correct except for place of birth  which is give as ASHFIELD DEVON. I have checked the genuki site and the maps I have but unable to find Ashfield Devon. does anyone know where/was this place.

Would S.K.S. be kind enough to help a thicko.
I have been able to sort out most of folio piece page etc. Example  RG12/766/46 /32, Ican work it all out except for the 46 is this the piece No. and where do you find it.
Sorry to be a thicko but I find it gets worse the older I get. Thanks in advance for your help.

  Many thanks for the info can see it now, must remember to put my spec's on next time I look at the map.
Out of interest the family name  is Edward HOOK Iv got him on the 1901 census with his wife Mary Ann nee MONGER and their siblings.

I was just browsing and saw your ?
The cap and colour badges look like the globe and laural badges of the Royal Marines. The Royal Marine museum at Eastney  Nr. Portsmouth should be able to con firm this. Hpoe this helps.

 I have not heard of stool ball since leaving Sussex [silly boy was nt i] but I remember a friend of my mothers playing stoolball I  think for Punnets town or was it Broad oak,inter village matches if i remember right, does anyone know if they still hold the matches.
