I am working on the branches of the Turner family of South Kirkby, baptised from 1760 to 1783 at South Kirkby, Yorkshire, England. The children of Thomas Turner [and Elizabeth Johnson, who married 1759].

Because Charles Turner, Blacksmith (also Whitesmith) baptised South Kirkby 1770 married Maudland Hood at Selby, Yorkshire, England, in 1794.

(Not Turver of Emsall, near South Kirkby)

John Turner Baptised, South Kirkby 1760

1796, 9th February, Hemsworth St Helen.
John Turner of this Parish, Blacksmith, married Sarah Atlee of this Parish, Spinster, in the Presence of Georgina Woodcock; Joshua Parkin; Joseph Skelton.

The Will of John Turner of Hemsworth (Borthwick Institute, York) written 1838 (Proved 1839) mentions "my five children".

Also mentioned in the Will are my "daughter Hannah Greenbank" and her husband Johnson Greenbank; my daughter Sarah Wilkinson; my daughter Priscilla Jones; my Grandson William Atlee Jones son of the said Priscilla; my Son James Turner and my Son William Turner.

William Beckett be vested with ... to dispose of my property ... of land and houses situate in the Parish of Hemsworth ... .

John Turner's Executor (1839 Death Duty Register at TNA, Kew, also on f m p) indicated Wm Beckitt of S. Kirkby, Pontefract, Yorkshire, was John Turner's Executor,

1825 William Beckitt of Darfield, Farmer, married Ann Atlee at Hemsworth in 1825, Present were Johnson Greenbank and Priscilla Turner.

1838
John Turner died 3rd November 1838, aged 79, at Hemsworth in 1838 (Sub-district Ackworth in the Reg'n District Pontefract). The Death Certificate says Frederick Greenbank, Grandson, was present.

1820 2nd May, at Felkirk, Yorkshire.
Johnson Greenbank of the Parish of Wakefield, married Hannah Turner, Spinster, in the Presence of Sarah Turner & William Atlee.

1826 27th February, at Felkirk, Yorkshire.
William Wilkinson married Sarah Turner [Bishops Transcript, Borthwick], in the Presence of Wm Atlee; Mt[?] Turner [Parish Register needs checking], Emelia Wilkinson, Geo Jessop & C.

1828 31st March, at Hemsworth,
John Lindley Jones of Wakefield married Priscilla Turner by Licence, in the Presence of John Green & Ann Jackson.

1830 William Atlee Jones appears to be in the Sandal Magna Baptism Register as William Athea Jones, Son of John Lindley & Priscilla Jones, Abode Wakefield, Butcher.

I thought Levele Smythe might be transcribed wrong in the 1861 Census household of James Smythe.

Levele has several spelling variations, see Jory [Jorey] and M.M.S. Smythe, daughter, born 1873 Seval Sarah Jory (GRO online).

1879, 29th March, St Mary's Church, St Marylebone.
Charles Burbidge, 35, Widower, Brewer's Servant ... married
Sevall Smythe, 25, Spinster, 71 Crawford Street, Father, James Smythe, Carman.

Signed Seevall Smythe, or Seivall (i undotted).

Present as wits: James Smythe; Sarah Jorey; Caroline Jorey (all signed).

Registered GRO online 1853 Dec Quarter,
Saint George Hanover Square, as ...
Ceiviall Smythe
Mother Maiden Surname: Woollaston.

An ancestor of mine gave his birthplace on censuses from 1851 onwards as Hampton, Warwickshire.  Does anyone know if this is likely to be Hampton in Arden or Hampton on the Hill?  He moved to London and I have not been able to trace his birth around 1813.

RosieG88 how do you get back to this James Smythe, in your personal tree?

Is it through Smythe, Jorey, or someone else?

Just googled this James Smythe of Hampton Warwickshire and somebody has had a go at this on Wikitree and also linked in James Jorey

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Smythe-58

Interesting that one of the Wiki Links mentions surname Noyce ...
 ----------
A reply to one of your other general thread questions called "Hornsey Workhouse" mentions an earlier Noyce surname seemingly by chance ...

RTL, Pleased, No further action  :)

We probably have a Form because the Mobile Blood Taking Clinics are in Community Centres with no NHS PC system. All they have are lists of names and appointment times, they read your test form from GP and your blood tubes go in a bag with that blood test form.

Blood Test appointment waiting was down from 10 days to 2 to 3 days.

Oh Margaret, that sounds like an idyllic blood test dream.

Jebber, I keep my bread cool and out of the sun, then freeze my bread too, before the date. Still nice toasted.
