Hi,

http://www.fultonhistory.com/Fulton.html

Try that site. There are over 15 million old newspaper pages available. I just searched Winiarski and got 2432 hits.  Most of them for the Niagara Falls Gazette.  There might be some useful information.

Regards,

Fred

In 1958, the Utica (NY) Observer ran the obit of their son John J. Clifford. In the obit, John's birthday was June 21, 1917, so it's likely his parents were married in 1916.

The Fulton site has millions of pages of old newspapers which are free to search.

Hi Swally,

I just did a search in an online telephone directory and got zero results for Allan in Oakland and Lambertville. However,  a search on just the state of Michigan came up with 224 Allans.  Some Allans you are looking for might have moved to different towns. Could be quite a task sorting that out.

Take a look at: http://www.fultonhistory.com/Fulton.html

The site has 2, 725,000 pages from old newspapers in central and western New York. Including Utica. I just did a search on Herman H. Torborg and came up with 8 hits. I don't know if they will help in your family search, but they might.

There was an Anna Reba Rigby b. 31 Aug 1896 in Elam, Delaware, PA.   Married 17 Jan 1918 to Frank Thompson, who was born in Yorkshire 2 Jan 1892.

They might be the folks you are looking for, but not 100% sure.

Swally,

You can access the Philadelphia library at:

http://www.library.phila.gov/

They say "Ask a question, get an answer"

They probably have city directories for a number of years.

Agnes,

I had an uncle who enlisted in the US Army during WW1, so there is no draft registration record. That might be the case with Vernon, and why the answer was "yes" on the 1930 census.

Hi Kath,

Thanks for posting that link.  I have been trying to find someone to contact about my Uncle George Smith, who lived in Lewis, Essex county, and I found two people on that link. Very helpful.
