hi mcajdo1                                                                                     my great great grandmother was a margaret mcdonald  she married malcom smith they had a lot of children some 13 i believe one called peter he married a elizabeth mctaggart who was the daughter of john mctaggart and elizabeth mcalister .they were married in campbeltown in 1856 does this fit in anywhere in your ancestry.  best wishes john smyth

hi anne my name is john smyth my grandfather was malcolm smith,son of peter smith, son of malcolm smith and margaret mcdonald my great grandfather peter smith was born in 1829 to malcolm smith and margaret mcdonald.who i would think were born about the 1790s i have only just started researching my scottish ancestry a few months ago i found talking scots a great helpfull site  i have some details on the smiths you can get in touch with me on * and i will willing let you have what i know on the smiths  mctaggarts and mcdonalds, best wishes john smyth

i am wondering if some kind person,would look up the 1871 and the1881 census of campbeltown for a peter smith/smyth
with a son malcolm. i have no area of search in campbeltown
i think there was other childern. i would be most greatfull if someone could help.also i have acess to the english and welsh census 1871.1881. 1891 and 1901 and i am quite willing to do a look up for anyone.if i can help in anyway please get in touch best wishes john smyth ;D

i am looking for info on malcolm smith/smyth father peter smith/smyth malcolm was born in campbeltown in 1861 he had brothers john smith.and twins edward and charles it is said he also had a sister any one know this family i would be very pleased to hear from them.it has took me almost 2 years to find them.been searching in the wrong country thought because malcolm was married in ireland he was irish that was my big mistake never take anything for granted well good luck to all you searchers  and best wishes john smyth

i hope rootschat will be of some use to me.i have tried several
sites,for my smyth ancestors from county down ireland.but so far have had no sucess in tracing any of my family,i have requested if someone could look up the 1901 census for dunsford county down for a malcolm and bridget smyth they were married in dunsford r.c.chapel in 1894 and thier place of residence was given as chapeltown,i wondered if they were still in the area in 1901. the people in northern ireland dont seem to be very helpfull on lookups.or is it just me that is not getting my message across,in the right way   best wishes w.j smyth ???
