This thread is probably a bit old now, but I have also come across a family tale that there is some connection to W.H. Davies. I believe that it might have been through the Phillips family of Newport - I don't know whether anyone knows of any Davies-Phillips connections?

That's really great - thank you so much! What would be really great (the icing on the cake!) would be to get a photo of those with headstones, always assuming they're still there are still readable...

I have a small branch of the family who immigrated to New Zealand around 1906/07. I have found all of their burial records in the Christchurch cemeteries, but wonder whether anyone knows of any sources of monumental inscriptions? I don't know whether there would be any! They were:

Edith Barton, buried 19/06/1935 Bromley Cemetery, block 7, plot 355
Elizabeth Barton, buried 30/07/1940 Bomley Cemetery, block 17, plot 235
John Barton, buried 12/09/1908 Linwood Cemetery, block 12, plot 69
Mary Barton, buried 22/06/1933 Linwood Cemetery, block 12, plot 69
Laurence Barton, buried 21/08/1954 Bromley Cemetery, block 17, plot 235
Mary Ellen Bunz, buried 19/03/1951 Woolston Cemetery, block L, plot 17
Leonard Merton Bunz, buried 24/12/1927 Woolston Cemetery, block L, plot 16

Any ideas where to look?
