« on: Friday 24 September 04 11:21 BST (UK)  »
 :) Hi Geoff,

I have found a Death of Albert James Harrison, age 5, March Qtr 1885, Ref:  6c 30 in Dudley. Could this be Albert?

I too cannot find any trace of Emma Jane Harrison. Could she have remarried before 1891?

Regards,
Gill.

 :)

I can find Alfred & Annie on the 1871 & 1901 Census in Islington, so Annie must have been alive in 1891, but I can't find them in 1891!!

I'll keep looking!
Gill.
 :)

p.s. I do know that not all the 1891 Census is on Ancestry.co.uk yet as I also have 'missing' relatives, so it might be a case of trying again at a later date.

Completed Census Requests / Re: 1841 & 1851 UK CENSUS LOOKUP PLEASE
« on: Saturday 28 August 04 17:35 BST (UK)  »
 :) Hi,

I don't know if this will be any help, but I have found the following on familysearch.org in the IGI:-

John Wood      Christened  9 Apr 1843    Norton By Bredon, Worcestershire.
William   "                "         21 Dec 1845             "                         "
Charles  "                "         18 Apr 1849              "                         "
James    "                "           ?  Apr 1852              "                         "
Alfred     "                "          15 Apr 1855             "                         "
Walter   "                "          27 Sep 1857             "                         "

John, James & Alfred have parents shown as William Wood & Mary.
William Charles & Walter have parents shown as William Wood & Mary Maria.

As William & Mary Maria were living in Bredon in 1881, could these be their children?

Gill.

Sussex Completed Lookup Requests / Re: Sussex Marriagebefore1837
« on: Saturday 28 August 04 13:54 BST (UK)  »
 :) Hi,

I've looked at familysearch.org in the IGI and found the following:-

Marriage: William Davy / Mary Avis  10 Nov 1827  Hartfield, Sussex.

There are a couple of variations for John Knight / Anne Eede:-

Marriage: John Knight / Anne Eede   7 Jun 1794   Bury, Sussex. (John Knight is given as born in 1773, Bury, Sussex)

Marriage: John Knight / Ann Ede   9 Jun 1794   Chichester, Sussex.

Couldn't find the 3rd couple.
Hope this helps!
Gill.

Completed Census Requests / Re: 1891 London, Southwark for Howes
« on: Thursday 19 August 04 12:48 BST (UK)  »
 :) Thanks for trying!!

I'm not sure if I've got this right, but I think the Ancestry 1891 Census name index is taken from S&N's The Genealogist name indexing project. If so, the London index has not been completed yet, in which case some of Southwark (and other areas) may still be missing on Ancestry.

Completed Census Requests / Re: 1891 London, Southwark for Howes
« on: Wednesday 18 August 04 21:50 BST (UK)  »
 :) Here goes...

Bray - 1881 Census - 67 Orange St., St.Saviour

James Bray           Head    34    Iron Founder
Johannah Bray      Wife     36    (entered as Juanna?, but Johannah in 1871, 1891 & 1901)
James Bray            Son      13
MARY A. BRAY         Dau      11
Maggie Bray           Dau       9
Katey Bray             Dau       6

I presumed my grandmother Johannah was named after Mary Ann's mother.
In 1871 the family were living in St.George.
In 1891 the family, minus Mary Ann, were living at Bangor Court, St.George.
I did wonder if Johannah was born sometime between 1881 and 1888 before Mary Ann married Ernest Edward Howes, but I've never found anything.

Howes - 1881 Census - 13 Castle St., St.George

George Arthur Howes    Head   44   Carman     (family listed as Howse)
Louisa Howes                Wife     39
Henry Howes                 Son      16   Carman
ERNEST E. HOWES         Son      12
Frank C. Howes             Son        9
Maud L. Howes              Dau       6
Archibald J. Howes         Son       3
Thomas Howes              Son       9m

In 1871 the family were living in William St., St.George.
In 1891 the family, minus Ernest Edward, were still living at 13 Castle St., St.George.

In 1901, Ernest Edward Howes & Mary Ann were living at Camelot St., St.George with their children, except Johannah.
I have also found James & Johannah Bray and George Arthur & Louisa Howes on the 1901 Census, all still living in Southwark. Johannah (my grandmother) is not with them either.

Thanks for taking the time to try and solve this mystery!
Gill.
