Westmorland Lookup Requests / Skelsmergh Burial? Pickthall
« on: Sunday 07 June 20 21:25 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for help please, to find the last resting place of my g.g.g.g. grandfather, Robert Pickthall, who died in Goody Nook, Garth Row, Skelsmergh on 8th March 1876, aged 83. Robert's wife, Agnes Pickthall, died in Goody Nook on 25th June, 1872. I believe Robert's death in 1876 was around five years after St John's Church was founded in Skelsmergh so can anyone help with burial records, or suggest where else Robert and Agnes may be? Many thanks in advance for any help with this.

Durham Lookup Requests / Re: Fatfield - St. George's Church

Thank you very much, Jo C. - much appreciated. I will certainly call by the church soon. I only live in Burnmoor so not too much of a trek. I have explored the churchyard at St George's some years ago, so I am not hopeful of finding a gravestone but it's very reassuring to know that it is my g. grandmother's final resting place.

Hello Elizabeth - no, I'm afraid I don't know if there is a headstone for this gentleman. I would like to think there was a Commonwealth gravestone? I am not familiar with this churchyard, though. Thank you.

Cumberland / Wetheral Burial
« on: Friday 13 November 15 10:47 GMT (UK)  »
Hello - I am researching the lives of WW1 soldiers in my local area (Burnmoor, Co. Durham) and have discovered that one gentleman was buried at Wetheral. Is there any kind person out there who lives close to the church and would be willing to locate and photograph the grave for me? The person concerned is Edwin Joseph ATKINSON, Private No.155026, Royal Garrison Artillery, 4th Reserve Heavy Battery, died 11 February, 1923, age 39, from wounds received at the battle of Cambrai.

Many thanks in advance for any help with this matter.

Midlothian / Re: Marriage in Edinburgh?

Thank you to everyone for your valuable inputs. Good to have it confirmed that his wife's maiden name was Bowman. He was also familiar with St Andrew's Church, Edinburgh, having preached there in March 1906 according to the Edinburgh Evening News.
Just as a bit of background to my request, Rev A.J. Gadd ended his days after 28 years as vicar of St Barnabas Church, Burnmoor, Co. Durham, where he was also interred in 1950. This is my home parish and I am researching this gentleman to include more detail about this remarkable man on my website: https://sites.google.com/site/allthingsbournmoor/
