What was your ancestors name? Finding a Bapt may be the key to this :)

EG; we can rule out James/Isabel Anderson who were having children in Haddington in the right time frame. He was a Blacksmith.

Derbyshire Lookup Requests / Re: CARTER. Chesterfield Derbyshire
« on: Wednesday 19 September 18 15:33 BST (UK)  »
Be careful as there were 2 Charlotte Carter Marriages in Chesterfield close together;
Yours to William Edley 16 May 1828 and another to James Crosher 20 Apr 1829.

As Colin pointed out Charlotte Edley nee Carter was born Sheffield on Census.

2 Other Marriages Chesterfield;
THOMAS Carter to Anne STEVENSON 30 Jun 1824 (possible Marriage witness)
JOSEPH Carter to Mary KITCHEN 5 Aug 1800 (possible Parents)

Children Bapt Chestefield to Joseph/Mary;
WILLIAM 01 Mar 1801
CHARLOTTE 16 July 1802
ELIZA 20 May 1804
+ a possible THOMAS 1808 St Alkmund

So Charlotte 1802 may be yours or the one who married James Crosher.

I would try and find Thomas Carter and Wife Anne on Census to establish his pob/dob if I was you.

Trish :)

Hi Peter, yes if they didnt end up there I wouldnt be around!
I actually have never been to the Village but next time I visit NZ will go there.
My Brother (who live in England) has visited and has photos of himself in the blacksmiths forge.
Apparently it is a great place so enjoy it.

Its strange as I used to go north when I was young often ( usually hitch hiking ) but then did not know I had any connection to Kaikohe.
