Warwickshire / McCauley (my Maiden name), Taylor, Wainwright and Hewitt
« on: Sunday 01 July 07 00:17 BST (UK)  »
I'm looking for any info on McCauley, Taylor, Wainwright and Hewitt surnames in Coventry.
My maiden name is McCauley. Links also to Taylor on my paternal Nan's side.

Maternal line is Wainwright (My Mothers maiden name) and Hewitt; my maternal Nan's maiden name.

I'm a novice at this genealogy and keep hitting brick walls on every turn.

Knowledge so far; My Dads, Dad; John McCauley died in 1942 when his merchant ship S.S Gloucester Castle was hit by a German commerce raider off Ascention. Unable to find DOB, but assumed to be around 1914. He married Emily Taylor in 1938 in Coventry. ( her parents are Henry and Martha as mentioned in my earlier request)

Johns parents I know to be Thomas and Elisabeth - as these names appear on a memorial certificate for him on the commonwealth war graves commision website - again I can get no further - nothing for them on the 1901 census - my Dad believes they may have come to Cov from Fermanagh, Ireland.

My Maternal Grandad, Clarence Wainwright born in Coventry in 1903 - I thought his parents would have been easy to find on the 1901 census but again I hit a dead end.

Please can anyone help with research, or if there is anyone out there that recognises any of this info in their own genealogy, I 'd welcome any contact/info..........

There must be McCauley's, Taylors, Wainwrights and Hewitt's out there in Warks, pls get in touch.
Thanks

Thanks - I did that too; found a photo which mentions a footpath under the ring road - was hoping to find an old photo or map which highlights it - but i'm probably digressing.
