Durham / Rennie or Doran, or Rennie Doran
« on: Sunday 08 March 20 15:39 GMT (UK)  »
I'm trying to find the date of marriage for James Rennie Doran and his wife Sarah. James was born in Carlisle, 1833-1835. His surname appears to change from Doran to Rennie and then later in life back to Doran. Very intriguing.
As of 1851, he was living with his parents, aged 16 and his name along with his family has changed from Doran to Rennie (1851 Census: Age 16. A James Rennie is living in Newcastle with father John Rennie 37, mother Margaret 39, siblings Martha 13, Mary 11 and John 3.)
As of 1854, No record of a James Doran marrying a Sarah about this time. A child William Rennie is born DecQ 1854.
1857 Son Francis born 1857 is named Francis Doran and is later recorded as Francis Rennie Doran. The family, however, continue to use the surname Rennie.
On later records, James' last name reverts back to Doran.
I am especially keen to know when he married Sarah and what her surname was. Sarah was born 1835 in Carlisle.
Thank you for any help you can provide. Alison

Lancashire / Ann Walton - Walton on the Hill

Trying to find the parents of Ann Walton or witnesses when she married William Featherstonhaugh at St Mary, Walton on the Hill, Lancashire, 15 February, 1812. William was from Durham and I cannot confirm where Ann was born. I tend to think she was born in the same area that she was married in. I have seen her parents as Robert Walton and Patience in Durham, however, believe the person building the tree on another website may have been guessing.
Thank you.
