Dublin / KNOWLES or TOBIN lookups in Dublin please!!
« on: Wednesday 23 April 08 09:41 BST (UK)  »
Hiya I have just discovered the 1911 census for Dublin online and have found both of the familys I want.

The head of both households were Patrick TOBIN (1850) and Isaac KNOWLES (1857).

I am now wondering how to trace back further and how i can find BMD records without going to ireland (if possible)

I also need the marriage record for Isaac Knowles (1891) and Rose Tobin (1900)

Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Caernarvonshire / Owen/Thomas family in Caernarvonshire
« on: Wednesday 03 October 07 08:51 BST (UK)  »
??? ??? ??? I am looking into my gt x2 grandparents in caernarvonshire. They were William (1837) and Ellen (1845) Thomas (nee Owen). My great grandfather John Owen Thomas was born 1889 in Llandwrog and both of his parents are down as being born in Merionethshire.
I have found them before John Owens birth on the 1871 census in Llandwrog with thier daughter Anne b 1868 in Ffestiniog. and in the 1901 census when they had moved to Glamorgan where Ellen is listed as a widow  >:(. But i am getting very confused on the other censuses and need a more experienced eye. Can anyone help?
They also had other children Griffith (1876) and William (1874)

Thanks

I found him on the census for 1851 as a boarder in Birmingham, St Philip, age 32 which would make him born c1819 it lists his place of birth as Calirans, Radnorshire, Wales. His wife Ann (unknown) is listed age 37 which would make her born c1814 Ludlow, Shropshire, England . Their 3 children Mary (1837) John (1843) and Henry (1846) are also listed with them. Mary and John were both born in Herefordshire. Mary was born somewhere beginning with b (cant make it out) and John was born in Walton. James was born in dudley, warwickshire.  It seems they moved about a bit!!! I havent got my free acces on ancestry.com anymore so i cant get hold of the actual document.
I am only very new to this kind of thing and ifeel a bit out of my depth on this one. Thanks for your reply i hope you can make sense of it!!
