Hi Jennifer,
Unfortunately my Early Settlers of the District Book does not pinpoint the sections owned by Francis and Eliza Bowyer. They are mentioned with the note they had 3 children but no further detail other than Francis was a son of Thomas (a stonemason) & Mary. Thomas owned section 1173/4/5  which probably includes the area where The Visitor information Centre is Situated, Main Road Yankalilla and section 198 with house and shop Yankalilla. If my scan is successful I will email you a section map also.

I have reference to a couple of Osbourne families including Michael & Ann with a son William christened in 1848 and daughter Alice christened in 1856. They owned section 1047/8 and 1072 Normanville.
Section 1072 is  very close to The Links where you were staying.
Section 1047/8 is indeed at the corner of Hayflat Road and Salt Creek Road. On the right hand side as you turn on to Salt Creek Road from Hay Flat Road.
I will try to scan my section map and email to you.

Hi Jennifer and Bill,
My last message was sent just prior to leaving for a few days away thus causing my delay in reposting. I will check my books and local notes and repost if I find anything relevant to your families.

Hi Jennifer,
Do you have access to the book "To Find the Way" by RF Williams?
There is a section on the Roads family of Thomas and Mary Roads and there eight children arriving in Adelaide on the Trafalgar in 1849. After finding gold the family moved to Yankalilla. It includes a family photo of George ( a son of the above) and Susannah (nee Bowyer) Roads and family. I have a copy and can share the details with you if you wish.

Hi Bill,
If you have not already done so a trip into the information centre on Main road Yankalilla might give you access to the above book. The book has records of many early families in the district.
Do you know where your ancestors are buried? I live very near Salt Creek road and we have an early settlers cemetery on our property. I have many names of those buried there.
(To contact me privately you need to make at least 3 posts then click on the green sroll under my name. It will allow you to send me a private message.)

Australia Lookups completed / Re: Death 1977 Salisbury South Australia
« on: Monday 21 March 11 11:36 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Evie,
The SAGHS have a lookup service (for a fee) of the newspaper death notices. The details are on their website.
The online data base for deaths and burials is showing a George Henry Jackson in 1977.
Hope this can help

 Hi Paul,
It would be best to remove the file if it is not for general publication as it is very public on here. You can edit and modify your post.
(Ahh I stand corrected your file is fine for on here as I see you have modified it before posting.)
I have sent you a PM with my email address. If you have not received it make one more post and you will have access to the Private Message system.

Welcome to Roots chat Paul. You need to post 3 times before you can use the personal message system but I will  try contacting you.

I had missed seeing the 31 Aug 09 posts  so your contact has drawn my attention to them. We were away at the time and I guess they got overlooked in the  mountain of emails that I had waiting when we returned.

Firstly- Wendy, yes I am sure you are correct with the BIGGS connection. It fits with everyything I have here including personal notes I inherited. Sorry I didn't see your post earlier.

Now to the  3 documents I have.

The typed pages are stapled together and the cover page has GREEN FAMILY TREE 1980 (handwritten). The first page has GREEN FAMILY TREE (Bedfordshire -- South Australia) The whole booklet comprises of 11 pages. Frustratingly the Foreward has no name attached but refers to Benjamin & Hannah GREEN as "my  Great Great Grandparents " .
There is no reference to USA Greens.

Aside from the booklet their is another paper one side showing AUSTRALIAN GREEN TREE and the other GREEN TREE in BEDFORDSHIRE. The Bedfordshire Tree is detailed and gives notes attached to certain people indicating when Parish relief was received or where they resided or any other points of interest. It indicates one line sailing to America.

Yet another pile of stapled pages giving the descendants of Benjamin.

There is a note from Enid & Bill Lewis to my late mother in law re the Greens. So Paul I think you may be correct in linking it to your 1885 work by the Lewis family.

The Midlands Historical Data has Birmingham Electoral Roll images avaiable online (1912 to 1955) but it is a pay per view service.
Sorry I dont have any current credits but I previously have found the roll very useful.
