Family History Beginners Board / Exeter in Devon early Trade Directories
« on: Thursday 07 December 17 12:14 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, after flicking through the lists of Trade posts (up to 200), but could find no one mentioning Exeter, so here goes!!!  Know about Exeter Flying Post newspaper, from around 1750's, and of course there is the Gentleman's Magazine, (ok not based in Devon but does have some info in it!)
So it seems there is no book of Exeter with lists of Tradesmen, up to the 1830's or am I wrong???
 :(  ???

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Re: bmd indexes in Sheffield? Are there any?
« on: Friday 03 November 17 12:28 GMT (UK)  »
Brilliant news, just heard back from a site called Sheffield Indexers, and they have certain BDM's detail's free to read on their site. Did find a Sheffield City BDM site, but even this would not give me any info. So happy having found Walter and Eliza Clark.

Ran into the same problem, although have heard that there might be a possibility of some form of searchable database coming soon?
But there is definitely a shortage of info on Sheffield's Parish Records.
For example found my Walter Clark in Freebdm 1869, but not in either Ancestry of Findmypast, now that is weird!!
And on taking directly to the Archives, they want a research fee from me!!
Any help out there PLZSSSS, Regards, Tim.

If you can give us an idea what dates and coverage also abode or names of BMD's in Sheffield  ??? maybe someone may know! more online resources or even visit the repositories in Sheffield.

Its best to think it out exactly what you want to request for and post all your total knowledge you have  on the issue! then allow the brains on here to start grinding to help you and there are some knowledgeable people.

 :)

Think you have your wires crossed my friend, what else is there when a cousin is seeking a lost cousin!!!!!!! Deerrr!! Of course it is Family History!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And to suggest using Facebook is a no no as well, tad illegal!
And if you should know better than suggest 192, as that site has only old data on it!!

Still dont mind you removing me from this site!!!!!!!!!!!

???

RootsChat is a site for FamilyHistory; not for finding living relatives.

You can use FreeBMD to find any marriages of those children, and maybe their children.
But for contact you would be better to use FaceBook, GenesReunited, 192.com or similar?

Yes I have found them, but unable to name them on this site, so now hoping that someone can identify them for me, or better yet pass on any contact details??

If you use FreeBMD, you can find children of Mabel and Cyril. ;D

Use surname = Ward.
Mother's Maiden Name = Edwards.
County = West Riding of Yorkshire.

2 births come up (1943 and 1945) in the Registration District of Lower Agbrigg; which is the Registration District that contains the parish of Sharlston.

I won't name them, as they may still be alive?

Updated as I was not sure who was who!!!!!!!!!

Are any of these people still alive?

RootsChat has a policy of not naming living, or potentially living, people.

This is part of my estranged family, Ambrose was one of 5 children, he married Hannah Maria Southern at Wakefield in June 1900, and they had 3 children, the boy Percy died early after an accident, Hilda the eldest married Arnold Dawson in 1934, and failed to produce children, Mabel born 1911 in Crofton d2000, married in Sharlston 1940 to a Cyril Ward d2002, but sadly know nothing more about this union? Think they had 2 children, can anyone offer any insights??
Regards Tim.

Hi All, been a bit low, with a spinal injury, but better now!
Very interest in knowing more about my cousins viz George C Clark, the Policeman.
Maybe the mystery over Timothy  Robert Clark can be solved at last??

If John Clark would like to send me a message we could exchange emails??

Hi there John and welcome to Rootschat.

The original poster (Dorset) hasn't been on Rootschat since Feb 2015,but hopefully now we have posted here, should be notified and come back online.

Regards

Carol

Have found a Robert Redpath (b1890) iving up in Redditch Worcs, (born at Bridlington), in the 1911 census, there is a possibility that while there he meets and marrys a Nore L Hirst (Hurst) in 1914 at Alcester, can anyone tell me anything about this couple?
Cant find her anywhere in the 1911 census????
Cheers
