Australia / South Australian - 3 Bushmen Contingent records
« on: Tuesday 03 November 09 07:28 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone i am looking for a ggrand father boer service medals. He inlisted into the army  feb 1900 left for South Africa in march.  Taken prisoner 18/8/1900.
name         Edgar Clarence SPENDER
unit            3 bushmen contingent
rank            trooper
service #     16
I am after what medals he would have been awarded the originals have been lost, a family member said they remember 4.
I have rang canberra   (awm) they advised me that all records were sent to the relevent states to be stored because of being pre federation  State records are ment to have them but they say they have no records of them. National archives cant help me  either . I have rang head office of the RSL and they said they would have no idea. I have  a list of the unit and names of the fellow  men in his unit and am resorting to ringing them to find out which medals they received , but could not bee 100% correct
Any help  would be very appreciated
regards debra

hi
if you are referring to the Australian Electoral Roll  here is South Australia they are  in the State Library  not my local library they hold all states
They state name of person address and their occupation  only of  the people who  are at voting age   21 and older  Here in australia in the 1970's they changed the age limit of voting to 18 .
