New Zealand Completed Requests / Re: Family of Samuel Cranch And Elizabeth nee Webb
« on: Wednesday 17 April 13 07:20 BST (UK)  »
Hi Cranch Researcher  If you are still on line, I noticed while trying to find my way around (unsucessfully) around this new set up that you had comments about Maria Cranch.  I have been in contact with a member of her family in Auckland who has been looking into info re that family.  Maria'a father it appears was a Ships Captain and also had two sons, one who also was a sea captain and the  other went into business.  She became a teacher.  The man I'm in contact with is descended from the latter son.  If you haven't got this family info and would like it, maybe you still have my email address and let me know if you need the info and I'll email it to you.  Was trying to find out how to send a PM in this new system and have been unable to find out how to, earlier one only have to click on it on your profile to be able to send one.   Bellbird

It appears there are a number of Ackerman branches Henry is one of mine and a lady in England has found her branch and my branch share the same number of greats in England.  They were unaware of Ackermans leaving England so were surprised to learn two did.  There is quite alot of info on my site so feel free to use it in your research if you find any of it helps you.  Not sure which side of the world you come from, I and two others on my page are kiwis.  Bellbird

Hi Zephyr   I have two photos or is it had of Henry Ackerman's family, appears to be their golden wedding going by the big cake in front.  I said maybe had as so much has disappeared or still in that heap that needs attention, though dried up paint from squashed tubes makes it somewhat difficult.  If I find them I'll send copies to your sister to forward onto you.  Your sister has my email address. There is a lady in England who I have had contact with who has discovered our Ackermans here in  NZ are (we are)  related to, share the same number of greats grandfather.  Will also  look to see if I can find the info she sent over.   Has anyone taken a photo of the Ackerman residence i.e. Henry's family?   Would love a copy.  Bellbird

I don't think so Paul, unfortunately i have lost so many of my records through damage and spread paint done by the big earthquakes and following aftershocks,  I see this morning we are well over 10,500.  Been a few days since the last 4 magnitude.  Also all that was on my computer was lost thanks to it being thrown on the floor and bounced around at least 4 times. Christchurch is certainly not the city we knew, we used to be so shocked at the empty spaces where buildings have been demolished, now mainly oh its just another one.  I'm still finding it hard to concentrate and exhaustion on bad days good days still very tired so haven't done much, but have been contacted by a cousin in here in NZ. Anyway  I had been given a list (now lost through my art paints  soaking it and sticking it together) going back to 1600s which was interesting.  The two Ackermans connected to me are Henry, my  great Uncle and his sister Jane my great grand mother.  They were born in Burton Bradstock when their father had for some reason been asked to leave  Bridport, they did return to live there, marry and come out here with families.  Henry was not pleased with life here and turned up on Jane's doorstep when husband was crossing the Hutt River in a dingy, threatening to do for her, burn her house down etc.  Read the court case on a site Papers Past.  There were at least one other lot of Ackermans I think as a court case was in the papers  in which a Susan Ackerman appeared, but age meant it wasn't our Susan Ackerma. I think.  I hear sounds of breakfast being made so must eat and hopefully feel a little more awake.   Bellbird.

Hi folk looking for Ackermans in NZ  I have been off line for what seems an eternity, probably is.  It is thanks to the Earthquakes here in Christchurch.  The computer refused to work after being thrown on the ground and bounced around at least 4 times.  Hence i haven't been looking at Family Tree or anything else.  Henry Ackerman the first male of this branch in NZ is my Uncle with I think two greats, the brain doesn't function as well currently his sister is my great grandmother.  I have a family group photo of Henry celebrating something as there is a big cake? in the front as well as one of him amongst all the papers that the quakes have refiled for me amongst every other paper I have which are still being resorted.  If you look back through my messages you will should find reference to a lady in Carterton? area who has done research for me on Henry and his immediate family.  Bellbird

Derbyshire Lookup Requests / Bond Family in Darley Dale Derbyshire
« on: Wednesday 11 August 10 00:15 BST (UK)  »
Hi to anyone who has researched this family.  I have a problem 3 times great grandfather George Bond.  I have been unable to find his birth apart from 1792 (about) his marriage to Mary Bell and a report sent to me from the Derby Mercury sent to me dated 6/1/1830, it was a coroners report of his death from burns having fallen asleep on the fire hearth.  I can't trace his burial either.  At the time of his death he lived in Greenhill Lane and was a miner which it seems may have been a family occupation as his son Andrew was also a miner which did not follow on when my grandfather moved to NZ as a teenager bringing Andrew's wife, then a widow, with him.  From looking at IGI it would appear George was very much a Bond family name.  Darley Dale having at least two generations of Georges and I have seen others in other families.  I am wondering if your research shows that my George may be part of your family tree prior to 1790s.   Any suggestions you may have would be much appreciated,  I have sites re George Bond on Rootschat which may help you.    BELLBIRD

Hi Grannyjane  If I remember right you said Annie Muriel was in Carterton.  My family were there at same time, intriguing.  Wonder if they were in touch or knew of  one another's presence.  My mother was the last of her family (born 1904) and was born there apparently started school there.  Must get hold of my contact in Carterton area and see if she knows anything.  BELLBIRD

Hi Granny Jane,  Bellbird again, I  put some info on my Samuel Cranch site that you had contacted so won't repeat it.  Also on one of my Cranch sites is mention of Maria, from memory a guy from France was looking for her.  The person inEngland was      trying to  contact him to tell him of my research but he couldn't get him.  Will have to go back some long time to find it.  Will try to do so if you are interested.   Nothing to do with the above, today we've been watching a Bellbird looking for nectar in our small Kwhai tree.  we hear him around our area for most of the year off and on, though Autumn/Winter he's a permanent fixture and we enjoy his songs.  Bellbird.
