Australia / Coates Family originally from Enniscorthy, Wexford, Ireland
« on: Monday 03 December 12 13:37 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for Coates Family descendants. The Coates came originally from Enniscorthy, Co Wexford Ireland and prior to that from Cork, Ireland. James Julian Coates, Isaac Julian Coates and Edward Coates.  Isaac Coates ended up in Cooktown, Qld. and died there age 60. He was a grazier on a property at McIvor River. James Julian Coates moved around quite a bit, known to have children with wife Emily Josephine Booth, a son Julian James Coates born in Victoria and a daughter Clara G Coates born near Hill End NSW. Don't have any information on Edward Coates at all.
ARE YOU THEIR DESCENDANTS?

New Zealand Completed Requests / Coates families
« on: Tuesday 02 August 11 15:56 BST (UK)  »
Looking for a family by the name of Coates in NZ have no idea where to start. Just know James Julian Coates married Emily Josephine Booth in 1870 in New Zealand. The marriage was performed at the brides home and conducted by the Reverned D Bruce.

I am the great, great grand/daughter of Daniel M Coates, (Senior) of Kilgibbon House, Enniscorthy, Wexford, Ireland the father of the above James Julian Coates. James Julian had other siblings, Eilzabeth, Michael and Daniel. On searching the NZ birth, deaths and marriages I also found a marriage between Julian James Coates and Emma Matilda Heap in 1894. I am assuming that this is perhaps the son of James Julian. If anyone recognises these people please contact me. Many thanks

Meath / Re: County of Maid revisited
« on: Monday 23 August 10 13:19 BST (UK)  »
I think that if Meath is spelled "Mead" it is  someones interpretation of the pronounciation of "Meath" said with a Meath accent. My mother is from  Navan, Co Meath and I can understand how someone would think from the pronunciation that it might be spelled "Mead". Stamullen is another town in Co Meath.

« on: Friday 07 May 10 15:17 BST (UK)  »
Hi All
Noticed your posts on the Harpur family of Wexford town I am looking for information on a Mary Wade (nee Harpur) daughter of John Harpur of Bride Street Wexford who married a Pierce Wade on 30/9/1867 (witnesses were William Byrne and Ellen Malone). Mary and Pierce had a daughter Mary born 24th march 1869, baptised 25th march 1869 witnesses John Wade and Catherine Harpur. I noticed in some of the posts the names Mary Wade and Catherine Harpur and wondered if this has any connection to your Harpur family mentioned.
