I would be very interested in the list of burials at St Stephens in Kirkstall as I am not only interested in the Dawson family but also the Whitham family
Thank you

Thank you for following up an old post.  I am sure we have had contact previously. Thank you for your interest.  I have been fortunate to have several visits to St Stephens in Kirkstall to see the family graves.  I have written about the brewery not far from the church and Knottfield House, now taken over by the crematorium

Yes you are certainly on the right track.  So I assume your wifes family is through Emily Wilshire.
My e-mail is (*)  I am certainly interested and would very much like to fill you in.  I have so much information about the Dawsons and the Wilshire family it would be great to particularly delve in the Wilshires more.
We were at the crematorium October last year visiting the occupant of North Lodge.  Presented a booklet about Knottfield House and its occupants to the Rawdon community library.  If you have time call in and ask to see it.
Benjamin Percy Dawson who married Emily Wilshire was my great grandfather. His only son (there were five sisters) was my grandfather.
Looking very forward to hearing from you.
Judith

Great to hear from you.
Yes you are correct. Benjamin Percy Dawson married Emily Wilshire.  Where do you fit into the family.  I would very much like to hear from you.
Kind regards

No problem Jeanne. Glad to be of assistance.  This is why sites like RootsChat can be of assistance connecting people.  I too have just returned from Ireland and the UK making connections with my research.

Just another thought
If they did continue their education it was probably though Hutt Valley Memorial Technical College.  Unfortunately we do not have the archives for this as they are at the Local City Council and are not available - I have tried once before for a query.

Hi there from Wellington
I have looked through the Hutt Valley High School data base for admissions for first decade (1926 to 1935) and cannot find either of your parents.  If they had attended HVHS they would have fallen within this bracket.
I did however find through Ancestry a Robert and 'Lizzie' McAughtrie living at 68 Victoria Street, in Lower Hutt on the electoral roll in 1928.  Robert was described as a labourer and Lizzie - married.  They finish in 1972 for Robert and 1981 for Elizabeth (Lizzie).  I don't know if you run Ancestry, however if you would like their addresses I can transcribe them for you.  You mention 19 Randwick Crescent, Moera.  On the electoral roll it gives it as 91 Randwick Cres.
No problem if you would like this info.
Cheers and enjoy summer.
