Ok sorted it out  magnified the 1861 census and the surnames are Nowlan not Newton.The stepchildren are Sarah's and Jacobi is James.Thanks

Thanks for that Claire,certainly looks like them but still very confusing.They were baptised as Fredericus and Joannes Alfridus Nolan father given as Jacobi Nolan mother Sarae Cooper.Where the Newton comes in I have no idea.Thanks again it is a lead.

Hi all,looking for any Nolan families in the 1851 or 1861 Stalybridge census.In particular John Alfred Nolan who was born 1859.I have his birth reg and his baptism but cannot find his fathers real name as the latin names were used at baptism.Thanks for any help.

Could not find Henry and family in the 1841 but according to the Wimbush tree by Podder on ancestry.com he was born 1780 Great Bourton,Oxfordshire,the son of Thomas Wimbush 1740-1790 and Hannah Coleman 1756-

Thanks for your effort Clive,I had tried the internet archives link you gave and like yourself found no Peter hence the call for help.Have now found he was imprisoned in East Riding 1826 but unfortunately don't have de luxe membership to Ancestry.com.Also found his death 1854.Thanks again,Pete 8)

Any help please to find a birth or Christianing for Peter Leighton who in the 1851 census gives his birthplace as Howden and an age that would put his birth year about 1792..I have his marriage in Hull 1811 to Elizabeth Turpin of Sculcoates but cannot find a birth or Christianing for him on IGI.

Thanks Cathy,you may well have smashed down a wall here,I have now got her in the 1841 in Staffs with father Daniel,mother Jane and brother Edward.Father and mother not born in county,lots of work to do now but there is a possible Herts connection.Thanks again,Pete 8)
