'I would question the surety of the source saying he was 'Italian Seaman"?'

This was from the original Quarrier's records for Henry's son Walter

On Henry's marriage cert, and his death - what is the format used to describe his mother :
does it say:

"Julia LATTA maiden surname (ms) ROSE"?

or just "Julia ROSE"

It says Julia Lotto (Another variation lol) maiden name Rose, Deceased

Europe / Henry Latta Possibly from Italy ?
« on: Thursday 26 October 17 15:39 BST (UK)  »
I have Henry Latta born about 1828, he was a mariner (Merchant Service). Henry married Flora McDougall 23 Mar 1858 Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland, they had 2 son's. On 28 Nov 1870  Royal Infirmary, Glasgow Henry died from complications arising from a leg accident on board a ship. On 23 Sep 1872 Fever Hospital, Glasgow Flora died, the 2 young lads were taken in by Flora's uncle until 1881 when the youngest Walter was placed in the City Orphan Home, James Morrison Street, Glasgow. Later that year he was 'shipped' off to Canada as a Home Child. I sent off to Quarriers for any records for Walter, when they arrived it stated the Henry (1828) was an Italian seaman. According to Henry's marriage cert his father was Francis Latta (Merchant Service) and mother Julia Rose. Can some kind person please advise me as where I might find Henry's birth ? (I cannot read or speak Italian) :(

For Walter Lotto on British Home Child Day
 WHY THE SUNFLOWER
(Flower that represents British Home Children)

Sunflowers are bright and inspire hope.

British Home Children came to Canada hoping for a brighter future.

As the sunflower grows until it is mature it will face the sun. In the morning it will face east and follow the sun throughout the day to be facing west at sundown.

British Home Children got off their ships in the east and most travelled west into all parts of Canada.

Sunflowers are very strong and can endure various environments

British Home Children had to be strong mentally, physically and emotionally and endured various living situations.

Sunflower seeds are encased in shells.

British Home Children on the most part kept their stories of their lives to themselves, encasing them within their hearts, minds & souls.

Sunflower seeds can be cracked open to reveal itself for others to share and appreciate.

British Home Children stories need to be cracked open, shared and appreciated.

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Re: DNA match to my tree?
« on: Sunday 17 September 17 09:12 BST (UK)  »
My Adoptive family was the first tree I did, I found that a lot of people shared my info on the web so made it private, I only open to confirmed 'family' members, I started my Blood family tree out of curiosity after sending off for my original Birth cert, I have since found out I have 2 half sisters and 3 half brothers living 15 miles away ! I have always kept this tree private as well. If I get a request for me to open my tree I always ask which tree and check that they match either by looking at their tree (public) or asking for the person they are interested in.
