Hi Casalguidi,

Thank you for the information.  You may be on the right track with John and Susannah.  I will try to find out what her maiden name is.

Hi Bearkat,

Thanks for your reply.  It does look like Susan COSTEN.  Now I have to find a link to Sophia ATWATER or George GOODWIN.

Kent / COSTEN (Susan?) - 1806, Rainham, Kent

I am taking another shot at my brick wall and was wondering if anyone knows of a family with the surname of COSTEN living in or around Rainham, Kent in 1806.

Sophia Atwater married George Goodwin on April 21, 1806 in St. Margaret of Antioch, Rainham.  She is transcribed as Hatwater.  Of the two witnesses, one I'm sure worked in the church or was somehow used as a witness often - William Taylor.  The second witness has the surname of COSTEN or at least it looks like that.  The first name may start with an "S".  The image that I have seems to be a better copy of what is on the Cityarc site but I still can't make out the first name.

Grasping at straws, I am wondering if this may be a family member in some way.  I have not been able to find a link back beyond Sophia.

Thank you for reading,

Nancy

I have found a daughter born in May 2, 1843 named Jane Ann.  Father is Alexander, Mother is Ann Galbreath?  Baptism on Aug 6, 1843.  Montreal St James Church.

I've also found William - June 19, 1932.  Baptism on Sept 3, 1932.

Let me know if the parents are correct and I can send you the details.  Got to go out right now but I can look further later.

Hi Martha,

Perhaps if you contacted the local Genealogy Society and explained that you are over seas and have exhausted the online data searches, they may be able to help out.

Here is the link for the Halton-Peel branch.  I noticed that there is a link for "Research Queries" about half way down the page.  You will be looking in Halton:

http://www.halinet.on.ca/sigs/ogshp/

Let them know the years you think they died.  As it is recent in genealogy terms, this rules out many of the cemeteries.  Trafalgar Lawn Cemetery is the largest most active cemetery for recent burials but you never know.  These individuals may have purchased their plot long before the cemetery was "Sold Out".

I hope that helps.

Hi bearkat,

Thanks for the link.  I will check it out.  I off searching my other lines with the hope that there would be more information when I got back to my Attwater line.

I appreciate your time in sending the info to me.  Have a great day.

Hi Sue,

I would be happy to let you know what I know about the family tree.  I have traced back 4 more generations from Effield.  It is a very large amount of information.

If you would like to share information with more detail I would suggest that you send me a personal message through Rootschat with your email details.  If you click on my name (atth2o), it will take you to a details page.  At the bottom of the page you will see highlighted in blue "Send this rootschatter a person message".  Here you can send me a private message that will not be posted to the general public.
