These are just estimated relationships. You need to work on trees and make your own judgement.

Ireland / Re: When did the Format of Death Registrations Change?

I agree it took a while to kick in.
I had grandparents die in 2007 and 2009. The former does not have this info, the latter does.
My mother registered the second death and was asked for the additional details, which she gave. She asked, because she knew I'd want to know, what would happen if someone didn't have that info. It was then left blank.

Ancestry and FindMyPast did collaborate on the transcription and the databases are identical, except Ancestry charges and FindMyPast doesn't.

Very interesting thread.

Just wanted to add that I ordered a copy of a COI ancestral couple's civil marriage many years before Irishgenealogy existed. Later I went to the RCB library and I looked up the parish register. It was an identical image - the same handwriting, etc. They married in a Dublin church which is no longer a church.

Dublin / Re: Looking for Birth or Baptism record Dublin about 1874

Have you searched under Noonan without a first name?
Lots of births registered without one.
I'd widen it out a few years either side of 1874. People often wrong about their age.

RE: ages - most likely people did not know precisely how old they were, rather than explicitly lying (unless aging themselves up to join the army).

I tried that one too.

I've given for now. I'll give it a go on a different computer when that's possible.
