Yorkshire (West Riding) / Thomas Gould grandson of Judge Gould
« on: Friday 14 June 13 21:17 BST (UK)  »
I would like to locate the family of Thomas Gould Esq of Wakefield (Grandson of the late Judge Gould) who married Miss Sarah Maria Martin 25 August 1810. Witnesses Lucy Frost, Hy Gould, Mary Motley, W W Martin, W Martin

In trying to make a connection through Judge Gould, I found the following information but am unable to piece it all together:

The Yorkshire Gazette 1821 mentions the death of a Charles Gould  Esq son of the late Counsellor Gould, nephew of the late Judge Gould and brother of Thomas Gould Esq of Poppleton.

Sarah Gould the only daughter of the late Counsellor Gould married James Day 5 November 1816 in Islington London.

George Gould Esq 1769-1836 of Kings Villa Pontefract reported as the nephew of the late Judge Gould in The Leeds Intelligence dated 9 June 1838. He married Maria. Two nephews (brothers) Thomas William Gould and George Gould.

I don’t know when Thomas Gould was born or when he died. He doesn’t appear on the 1841 census with his wife and she is a widow on the 1851 census. Sarah Maria Martin was born 1787.

I would appreciate any help, thank you

I’m trying to place a Harriet King (nee Weddall) as niece of Edward Weddall (1743 Bubwith –1811) who mentions her in his will. I have found Harriet and her second husband on the 1841 census which gives a birth year of 1782. Her second marriage announcement in The Hull Packet 1807 states she is the only daughter of J Weddall Esq of Bankhouse Selby Yorkshire.

Thomas Weddall (Merchant) married Beatrix Barrett in 1728 they had to my knowledge the following children: Mary 1729, George 1733, Ann 1735, Charles 1737, Sarah 1739, John 1741 and Edward 1743. John Weddall had a daughter Sarah so he is not the father of Harriet. I am assuming there must be another son but I have not been able to find one.

I am also looking to tie Charles Weddall into the family. He was a ship owner and married Mary Ann Sefton in 1804 Preston Lancaster. According to the Lancaster Gazette Charles is of Bank House near Selby. Charles and Mary had the following children to my knowledge: Edward Charles 1805, Ann 1806, Mary 1806, William Langstaff Weddall (Reverend) 1807 and John George 1808.

I have wondered whether Harriet and Charles were siblings but I am missing some information to be able to piece them together into the Weddall family. I would appreciate any help with this enquiry. Thank you

Take a look at this website (need to scroll down the page) for the deaths of Edward and Elizabeth Yates

http://web.archive.org/web/20040914082020/http://www.geocities.com/wrcushing/cushingw.html

The Burial for Edward Yates is on Ancestry parish records. I haven't managed to find any birth information for either Edward or Elizabeth.  Most families named their children after their parents and themselves. Have found the births of 6 children: Ann, Henry, Isabella, Elizabeth, Ellen Jane & Ann.  Perhaps the children are named after family members?
