 Thank you both.

My GGG grandfather, Mark, was born in Thornbury.

The marriage you have, William Brain and Elizabeth Ann is the couple who lost their son Samuel (showing aged 6 weeks on the 1891 census that ColC has found.)

Perhaps this is the wrong branch of the family but the connection to Gloucestershire and the West Country is accurate for my family.

Monmouthshire Lookup Requests / 1891 census in Newport

I'm trying to find out if a family named Sheppard are related to my ancestors of the same name.
William and Elizabeth Ann Sheppard lived in 6 East Usk Road in 1895. They lost several of their children (Samuel in 1895, and also Henry, Martha, Mary Ann and Florence Maria between 1888 and 1898). In 1901, the family were living at number 11 East Usk Road.
If anyone could find them, I'd like to know if there were any other siblings which may be related to me, notably Mark (b 1824), Sarah Ann (b 1824), Celia Annis/Annie (b 1827), Hester Anna (b 1830), May Eliza (b 1833) and Betty Susan (b 1834).
Mark was my GGG grandfather.
Thank you 😊

Thanks Maddy, I'm sure they have found these. Just  shame there's no photo online.  :)

Thank you all such for your efforts. I did find the images mentioned/shared below but as theirchild says, they are not the factory in Wales.
I will suggest to my friend that he checks the library and the archives.

Your help is much appreciated. Enjoy the rest of your Christmas time, and happy new year  :D

Monmouthshire / Newport Iron Works

A friend of mine is doing some research into Charles D Phillips, the iron works on Emlyn Street in Newport. The Newport Centre now stands on the site or the works. Does anyone know where we might find a photo of the factory before it was demolished in the 1930s? I've searched and only found pictures of the blue plaque. I've also searched through all my Uncles books (local historians will have heard of Terry Underwood).
Many thanks in advance  :)

Lincolnshire / Re: Lincolnshire churchyard maps

Thanks David - I fear you may be right. Our ancestors didn't appear to be wealthy people sadly so may have had soft stone which would have eroded, a wooden marker as you suggest, or maybe even nothing at all sadly. And they were all buried a very long time ago.
Sad, but at least they are being thought about if nothing else.
Thanks for your reply  :)

Hi Pauline
I was sent a plan of a churchyard (in the West Country) where I knew ancestors were buried. It showed the location of all graves (with the church in the middle) and each had the family name marked on the plot.
It meant I could walk straight to them and identify who was buried where. Such a help - it was be amazing if each churchyard had one. I know they are usually done by either a church enthusiast or amateur genealogists 😊

Lincolnshire / Lincolnshire churchyard maps
« on: Saturday 11 September 21 18:31 BST (UK)  »
Today we visited 3 churches I the hope of finding ancestral graves but found none, despite assistance from church volunteers.
Would anyone know of any churchyard maps for -
Toynton All Saints
St Andrews at Halton Holegate
St Helens at Ashby by Partney
All relatives in these churchyards have the surname BOGG and buried years range from 1722 to 1897
Many thanks
