The two years quoted 1910 and 1920 in this thread  - a point to remember the 3 ladies in uniform working for a railway could be in  WW1  years 1914-1918 women filling men's jobs while the men were in the forces at war .

Looking at the woodwork with what looks like a false wall over the one strip of continuous pattern wallpaper covered wall, some new looking wallpaper below, above the wood looks aged with smokey discoloured wallpaper (same pattern piece of wallpapper), that pipe work which looks fairly modern that was used as a chimney through lofts or attacks from tank cupboards, where gas immersion heaters fitted in copper tanks and when coal fire back fire water heated tanks with smokey chimneys where outlawed with smokeless zones were introduced in the mid 1960's.

Thus that wallpaper looks late 1940's/50's

It is not really possible to see to match the shape of mouth, or chin, or shape of jawline, or hairline. However, in my opinion, the left ear is a perfect match - so the same man in both photos.

I second this! the ear is a is a near carbon copy so to speak  ::)

There is no rank of Corporal in the Royal navy (The equivalent in the RN is a Leading Hand) but could be Royal marines corporal on ship.

RA corporal
In the Royal Armoured Corps, a Corporal commands an individual tank.

The Household Cavalry and Foot Guards have different ranking systems where the ranks progress directly from lance-corporal to lance-sergeant. The Royal Artillery has the rank of bombardier, while the Royal Navy has the equivalent rank of leading hand or leading rate.

An Edwin Ward, aged 43, labourer of Bradford Road was buried in the consecrated section of Edgerton Cemetery on 2 August 1876.

I cannot find an Edwin Ward living in Huddersfield, nor is there a death recorded of an Edwin Ward in Huddersfield in 1876.

Edmund Wear died on 30 July 1876 so this could possibly be his burial?

Sandra

Summing up! Edwin Ward

As Sandra has already said, there is no evidence of a death of Edwin Ward age 43 death in the late July or 1st or 2nd of August 1876 living on Bradford road Huddersfield in either the GRO of Local register office death Qtr index. No Newspaper death notice record Per August 1876 Huddersfield at Bradford road. For a Edwin Ward either.

Edmund Wear (Weare or Ware)

I called at the Huddersfield local studies Library yesterday and looked at the 1875 to 1876 Electoral Burgess register book page 92, in this book the names and addresses of inhabitant residents ar in name district order with each residents address given after the name.

There is Edmund Weare 1 Beaumont street corner house with Bradford road, Fartown Huddersfield 1876

There is No Edwin Ward living in Bradford Road Fartown Huddersfield in the North Ward 1876

Its up to the reader to either accept or decline this evidence presented that the burial of Edwin Ward burial 2nd August name was a mistake for Edmund Wear(e) death 30 July 1876 Edgerton Cemetery Huddersfield record in the local newspaper and death certificate owned by Rootschat member Sandyjose the OP of this thread
