Agreed, it's really a mystery not being able to find anything.

I have come up with little on my husband's ancestor, Mark Parslow b. 1851 Bolton, Lancashire d. 6 May 1890 Townsville, Queensland, Australia.

I have two records for him, His marriage to Fanny Reynolds 12 Jul 1877 in the home of Rev. W. Powell on Boundary Street in Brisbane. This record indicates he is the son of John Parslow and Mary Ann Lockwood. His father and himself are stated as Butchers and that he was born in Baltan, Lancashire.

The other record is that of his death. Which as the occupations of himself and his father as both Butcher. Parents as John Parslow and Mary Ellen Lockwood. Also his birth as Bolton, England and he is 39 years at his death. And he has been in Queensland 13 years. Which puts his arrival to Queensland 1876/1877. By 1878 they are living in Toowoomba and sometime between 1885 and 1889 they move north to Townsville. I have nothing other than the names of his parents and that his father was a Butcher.

Anyone have relevant resources they can check, it would be greatly appreciated!

Ok I shelled out the $20 for the historical image from the QLD BMD. It has Bolton, England as place of Birth. 13 Years in Queensland. died 6 May 1890 Brights Disease age 39. So he arrived in QLD 1876/1877

Thank you for your reply @warncoort
I've yet to find his immigration details. Also I haven't found record of his parents in Australia. And the marriage record says Baltan, Lancashire and mother's name as Mary Ann Lockwood. Death index says Mary Ellen Lockwood. He and Frances Reynolds married 12 Jul 1877 in the house of the Rev. W. Powell, Boundary Street, Brisbane According to the rites of the Primitive Methodist Church. Three of their 4 children were born in Toowoomba bet 1878-1885 they are in Townsville by 1889 for the birth of their youngest. He dies the following year in 1890. I really need to see about getting his death record ordered. Only two of the 4 girls lived to adulthood. The eldest and the youngest. I personally don't know of any other record that shows Bolton. But someone along the way assumed it was Bolton it was referring to.

Lancashire / Mark Parslow, b. 1851 Bolton

As we all do I have a few brickwalls, and Mark Parslow is one of them!

Australian records for Mark Parslow say he was born in 1851 in Bolton(marriage record says Baltan), Lancashire. His parents being John Parslow and Mary Ann/Mary Ellen Lockwood.

I have yet to find any corroborating English Records for any of these people. On the marriage record it has both his own and his father's occ. as Butcher.

I am hoping someone can work wonders and find some clues for me!

Thank you!

Got to read the newspapers from 1863, that is definitely the same Mary Ann Davis. Funnily enough a CE Carles is mentioned as one of the bank officers defrauded in her forgery case. Maybe since he knew her he came to do the baptism and as a result did a couple of others.
