Warwickshire / Re: INNOCENT family

Thomas Innocent (born 1718) is my 6xgrandfather. As has been stated, he married Elizabeth Lagoe in 1746. Her surname is very interesting as it's the maiden name of George Fox's mother. George, you may recall was the founder of the Quaker movement and he lived just across the Leicestershire border in  Fenny Drayton. Elizabeth was the direct descendant of George's mother's brother. So anyone (like me) who can show they are descendants of this Innocent family can also claim aconnection with George Fox.  In my case, he is my first cousin 11 times removed. I hope this information is of use.

Thanks for that Tony. John and his family had  moved to Coventry by 1871. I wonder if this was due to the anti-Catholic feeling in Wolverhampton?

On the 1861 Census I have just traced my G G Grandfather (Jo(h)n Cronan)and his family as living in Castle Place. He came over from Ireland and I notice that the vast majority of the thirty or so families living in Castle Place were also from Ireland. Does anyone know why these people all settled in that one area?
