Hi all,

Thanks for your e-mails. Yes, this person is assumed deceased as I helping a lady here in Tasmania to try and find her grandfather. This John Connolly hadn't married to her grandmother, and his son was sent over to Australia on his own at age 15 or so. Yes, I do genealogy work as well and am OK if you would not prefer to help. Are there any records one could access from outside of Australia, eg. Electoral Records, Directories, that may identify this person. There is no other info, just his name on the birth certificate of Ronald Hassall, father of the local person I am trying to assist. He would have been born probably between 1905 and 1914.

Picking at straws.

Thanks.

Jim

Hi all,

I am research the Family of Benjamin Greenaway/Grinaway/Grenaway and Hannah Hammond. They married in 1788 Donnington, Sussex. Benjamin was born about 1762 in Sussex, I believe and died in 1848, Oving, Sussex. Anyone with any ideas on the location of the baptism/birth of Benjamin and who his parents were? Any ideas would be great.

Australia / Re: Passenger List .. SV John BELL .. Hobart 1855
« on: Sunday 10 November 13 07:24 GMT (UK)  »
Hi there. I am seeking to identify about a 14-16 year old boy, the was either working as a Cabin Boy or a passenger on the John Bell which arrived into Hobart on 4 Dec 1855 from Glasgow. His name was David Scott, born about 1839-1841, either in Scotland or England. Unsure if he traveled solo.

Can anyone look up the ships manifest of immigrants if possible? I checked the Tasmania Archives on line and no Scott family at all.

Any assistance, greatly appreciated.

Devon / Re: William Hutchings b. 1787 Northam, Devon

Hi Carole,

Thank you. Yes, I agree that would be the best way to confirm that Philip and William both are children of William and Ann. I did locate a William Hutchings in 1787 in Abbotsham, which is close to Northam. Anyway, I will continue to do some looking.

Kinds regards

Hi there. Thank you for your reply. William Hutchings, and his wife Rhoda both died in Tasmania and on their wedding certificate in Devonshire, had Philip as his witness (brother) in 1840. His birth date based on age put him about 1811 or so. He was born in Portsmouth, Hampshire. Checked the parish records and found a William Hutchings, shipwright, baptized in 1815, with parents of Wiliam and Ann Cobbledick. There was also a son, Philip Hutchings born about 1809 in Northam. Thus the brother Philip and William. I then looked in Northam arise records and found a marriage of Ann Cobbledick and William Hutchings in early 1800's. I then estimated and looked for a William Hutchings in 1780's in Northam area and found one in 1787, father was Philip and mother was Sarah I think. But it seems they moved around a bit. Any thoughts?
