Wow... that's incredible Ladyhawk. Thanks so much. I hadn't expected to learn anything about the early lives of the Fournisses (being pre-1837). Having checked on Free BMD, Fourniss appears to be a Yorkshire name and relatively few lived in London - which is helpful. Any marriage details would be useful thanks.
And thanks for solving the mystery of young Rosetta Aldrich. It explains why she sadly doesn't appear on the 1861 census entry where 17-year old William Henry makes his first appearance. As Barbara suggests, he must have been staying with relatives in 1851; the butchering connection could be relevant.
My great x3 grandmother, Sarah Mary Ann, settled on going by the name Mary Ann Sarah in later life, hence the confusion.
It just goes to show that, with some work (on your part), the ill-fitting ALOUCH entry can be made to fit like a glove! Have you thought about doing this for a living?
