John Chapman Clerk, died before 1872. Married Susan Ann. They had issue:
1. Thornton Chapman b.1 Aug 1840, chr.13 Jan 1841 St Martin-in-the-Fields, Westminster, London. Married Highgate Congregational Church, St Pancras, Middlesex 6 Aug 1872 Sarah Constable (b.1846 St John’s, Paddington, London). Clerk at time of marriage. Both living at 4 Grove Place, Highgate, London at time of marriage, the home of Sarah’s father George Constable. He died 1877 Islington, London. After his death Sarah Chapman lived 7 Southwood Lane, Hornsey, Middlesex 1881, 9 Agincourt Road, Hampstead, London 1891 and 16 Parliament Hills, Hampstead, London 1901. She is a Prepatory School Schoolmistress 1881 and Schoolmistress 1891. They have issue:
a. Emily Eliza Chapman b.1873 Islington, London. School Governess 1901, living with mother in Hampstead, London.
b. Alice Thornton Chapman b.1874 Islington, London. Adopted by Catherine and Georgina Shaw following her father’s death.
c. Annie May Chapman b.1876 Islington, London. Married Hampstead district 1897 Reginald Campbell or Charles Gilfillan.
Emma Morris, who lives with Sarah Constable Chapman as an ‘Aunt’ in 1881/1891/1901 lives with an Emily Chapman in 1861.

Emily Chapman b.1834 London. Living 10 Montpelier Crescent, Brighton, Sussex in 1861 as Schoolmistress. She is unmarried. Living with her are aunts Emma (b.1817 London) and Ann J Morris (b.1816 London), both born London, both Schoolmistresses. Living with 6 pupils and 3 servants.
In 1871 Emily Chapman has married (19 Jun 1861 St Nicholas, Brighton) Henry Bagley, a Schoolmaster b.1822 Tarvin, Cheshire and they live at 3 Belmont, Dyke Road, Hove, Sussex with daughter Annie F Bagley b.1864 Brighton. Ann Morris still lives with them. They still live there 1881 with Ann Morris but daughter not with them.
In 1891 they live at 28 Essex Road, Watford, Hertfordshire and Henry Bagley is retired. Their daughter, now a Governess, is living with them again.
In 1901 Emily is widowed and living alone ‘living on own means’ in 2 rooms at 8 Derby Road, Watford, Hertfordshire.
