My wife's great-great grandfather was from Ince. He was named John Carman/Carmon (born c. 1810), but in early life he also called himself John Hindley!! John married Anne Hughes at St. Martin's, Chester in 1827 and later married Esther Jones at the same church in 1837. The children of John & Esther were all given the surname Carman. Do you know anything about the Hindley/Carman connection?

Edgar Gregory

Martha Dixon/Dickson (born 1853, Elton) married John Hodkinson at St. Mary's, Whitegate on 22 Jul 1872. They had 10 children, born between 1872 and 1892. Do you need any further information on this family?

Joseph & Elizabeth Craven had 11 children, but none of them were named Ann(e). What other information do you have about your Ann Craven?

Regards,

Edgar

Yes, she was the eldest daughter of Joseph & Elizabeth Craven. Joseph was a Stonemason.
In the 1841 Census Hannah was a servant at the farm of Henry Johnson at Utkinton.
Here are the details from her marriage entry in the Bunbury Registers:

9 Dec 1850 (By Banns):

Thomas Hitchen (his X), of full age, Widower, Labourer, Alpraham (Father: John Hitchen, deceased, Labourer) & Hannah Craven, of full age, Spinster, Eaton, Tarporley (Father: Joseph Craven Stonemason).

Witnesses: Joseph Hitchen (his X), Mary Hitchen (her X), William Spencer.

Hannah Craven (born 1820) is in my family tree. She was married to Thomas Hitchen on 9 Dec 1850 at St. Boniface Parish Church, Bunbury. In the 1861 Census they were living at Eaton, Tarporley.

Linda,

I am interested in your connection with the Murrant family. My Gatley family of Frodsham, Cheshire & St. Helens, Lancs. have a link with the Murrant family.

George Murrant (born 1903, St. Helens) married Muriel Gatley on 19 May 1928 at Wesley Chapel, St. Helens. George's father was William George Murrant (born 1881, Ranikhet, India). William George was a brother of your Archibald Webb Murrant (born 1883, Meean Meer, India).

I am interested in an further information on the Murrant family and their origins.

Edgar Gregory

You mentioned that you are not having much luck with the Calveley line before the 1800's. I can trace this Calveley line back to the mid 1600's at Aldford, near Chester if you would like more information.

I have noticed your interest in the Gatley family. I am descended from the Gatley/Gatliffe family of Great Budworth and have been researching my family tree for 28 years.
