Only two Alexander baptisms of that surname in Longformasus 1730 – 1770. Father John.

JOHN CHRISTISON married MARY LILLE
05/06/1752 LONGFORMACUS
This fits the Scottish Naming pattern with Alexanders eldest son being John and second daughter Mary.

ALEXANDER CHRISTISOON baptism 9/05/1753
JOHN CHRISTISOON LONGFORMACUS

JAMES ALEXANDER CHRISTISON 3/12/1754
JOHN CHRISTISON LONGFORMACUS

ALEXANDER CHRISTESON married MARGARET JOHNSON
13/11/1784 DALKEITH

ALEXANDER CHRISTISON death
29/06/1820 EDINBURGH

I'm trying to confirm who is the father for Alexander Christison died 1820 Edinburgh, Professor of Humanity, University of Edinburgh for whom there are 2 possible Birth/Baptism at Longformacus.
I have researched the Redpath baptism as he has been mentioned as having a connection there.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_Christison
has him as both 1851 and 1853

https://www.classicsandclass.info/product/204/
(1760-1830) both of which are incorrect.

John Christison 1788 St Cuthbert's Church. Died 1862 Edinburgh

Robert Christison (no baptism located). Buried 1796 Edinburgh

Rev. Alexander Christison. Parish of Foulden
~~~~~~~~---------------------
I have a copy of these 2 Birth/Baptisms. There is no mothers name mentioned for either.
CHRISTIAN ALEXANDER ALEXANDER CHRISTIAN/ M 03/05/1751 750 10 / 208 LONGFORMACUS
Father Alexander Christison is of Muirton.
I have not researched them.
and
CHRISTISOON ALEXANDER JOHN CHRISTISOON/ M 09/05/1753 750 10 / 208 LONGFORMACUS
Father John Christisoon is of Redpath
There are a couple of mentions that Alexander Christison had 6 siblings, I have located 6 for the 1753 Alexander with father John of Redpath.
Parents are John Christison and Mary Lyle. Her surname was Lille when married 1752 Longformacus .
James Christison 1754  Longformacus (James Alexander in the index- Alexander has a line through it), father John in Redpath.
Agnes Christison 1760 Cockburnspath
John Christison 1762 Spott
The Common Room / Using District of Death on GRO Online
« on: Monday 26 February 24 03:18 GMT (UK)  »
I was searching on GRO Online for Mary Lewis deceased 1861 and indexed at FreeBMD as
Deaths Mar 1861 LEWIS    Mary        Malmsbury    5a   27
I accidently put "mal" as District of Death and it found the above mentioned death.
I was also able to find her using any single letter of  "Malmsbury".
This also works when searching births
The Scotland Census records I have purchased are of the full page.
1911 Census is 2 page format.
I know very little about Scottish records.  If this hasn’t already been mentioned, is it possible to view other transcription records from the same page?  When I’ve found confusing details from Canadian records for a particular ancestor, I’ve noticed that there are several discrepancies on the page (for other individuals).
Lanarkshire / Re: How do I find an exact burial location at Glasgow Cardonald cemetery?
Looking at the lair numbers on the side/rear of gravestones is how we located my Wife's Maternal Grandparents and Uncle grave at Neilston Cemetery, Barrhead.
We have since purchased a Headstone to be put on their grave.
A lot of headstones have the lair number marked on the side or rear of headstone
Personal Ancestral File (PAF). Last updated in 2013 and no longer supported.
I've tried other software and I keep going back to PAF.
Thanks Gadget for the link.
Mick
Is your updated tree on Ancestry or in software?
If it is within software, what is it that you are using?
