Cumberland / Re: Border Reivers clan names

I don't know that there's an actual clan, but I do have some Steels who appear in my Maternal Douglas family line in Ayrshire, so it's possible that there are more Steels in Ayrshire!  Just a thought!

Added - just found this - hope it's helpful for you!

New Zealand Completed Requests / Look Up Request Please
« on: Sunday 14 July 19 00:32 BST (UK)  »
As I am no longer living in the Wellington Area, and an ex pupil of Waiwhetu Girls High School, I was involved in a pantomime in the early 1960's, and I would be be very grateful if someone might be able to look up and copy the photographs as mentioned below.  Unfortunately, I don't have any photos from the event, but it would be fantastic if these were the photos from the pantomime I was involved in. Any assistance would be much appreciated.  Thank You.

The Common Room / Re: Searching for a person who changed their name
« on: Friday 05 July 19 22:45 BST (UK)  »
Just a thought, but I couldn't find a birth registration for my grandfather's brother, known as Harry, who was also listed on census info as Harry!  Eventually, about 2 or 3 years later, I remembered that Harry is a shortened form of the name Henry! I changed the search for his birth record to using the name Henry, so it might be worth your while to change your search using that name instead of the name Harry.

Added - when I eventually found his marriage record, his name was recorded as Henry! 👍

I have a friend who was adopted, and has been looking for a birth mother for several years!  Do you think a DNA test might help??
